2005 mercedes benz c240

Back seat soaking wet after week of rain car has 15k miles on it. Only wet on the foam in the rear passenger side seat. Pulled the seat and see water comming down the wires in the column next where a rear drivers side passengers head would be. Took it to Mercedes Benz Dealer...they have had it for five days and said they cant finsd a leak....I wish I never bought this car...only have it four weeks bought from my cousin via power of attorney since my uncle had a bad stroke. He passed away a week after the purchase. He kept it in a garage and never mentioned any problems.....

Sounds like it may be coming in around the window. Have you tried viewing the wires where you saw the water and running water from a hose over the top of the car?

I have 2005 e320. I had water coming through the headliner after a good rain. I thought the seal on the sunroof had possibly been compromised, I took it into the dealership only to be told that leaves get washed down into the body of the car and block the body drain holes. I was charged to have the right front wheel and wheel well cover removed. They ran a coat hanger or long screw driver up into the drain holes under the wheel well and flushed it with water. I watched as this was done. Leaves did indeed come out of the body of the car. When these holes get blocked, the water backs up into the car and comes through the panel and sometimes out of the passenger door frame. This has caused electrical problems with the vehicle as things are getting wet. This is a terrible design flaw and should be recalled for a fix! In the meantime, I'll try to keep my car covered so that no leaves fall down along the windshield and subsequently get washed down into the body. For a Mercedes one sure wouldn't expect this type of problem without the manufacturer stepping up to make it right!

I thought I would post an update since things regarding the water leak worsened in my 2005 E320 Mercedes. I religiously had kept my car covered to minimized debris from entering into the drain channels in the body of the car. After last year's rainy season, I began to have the same problem happening again with water coming in through my headliner. This time though, the electronics in the car car began to short out. I took the car into my private Mercedes Mechanic and he advised me that MBZ had a maintenance bulletin in the system that seemed to fit the problem. It stated that the manufacturer had built several vehicles without properly installing the roof seal/gasket. It ended up costing me close to $2k to have them replace this gasket at the dealership. There has been several heavy dowpours of rain since and I have not encountered this poblem again. At least with the inside of the car. I did however start getting water in the trunk. I took the car back into the dealership and they stated that the antenna was leaking and the entire unit would need to be replaced to the tune of $800. I laughed so hard, tears ran down my leg

!!! I took the car home and began evaluating the leak myself. 10 cents worth of silicon caulking did the trick. There was also water enetering through the 3rd brake light which is also mounted in the truck. The replacement gasket cannot be obtained separately, and only comes with the entire light assembly. I found an aftermarket that looks identical and it was easy to install.... Yes, even for a woman! Saved BIG $$$ and has taught me a ton about dealers -ripoff artists.

Michelle has the right idea!
Double check to make sure your sunroof drains are clear. You can sometimes used compressed air to blow them out instead of using a coat hanger. It all depends upon how stiff the crud in the lines is.

2005 Mercedes Benz C240 On my passenger side front and back the electronic locks don't work, windows don't roll down, and the mirror doesn't work either. Seems like all these electronics do not work.

All of those are controlled by the Body Control Module. You have a communication System failure on the computer network that joins then all together.

You need and auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose where the issue is an fix it.

What is involved in replacing the batteries in 05 e320 cdi can i do it myself?

You can do this yourself. Look under passenger side rear seat. This battery is vented outside with a air tube. Make sure to disconnect and reconnect..

Leaking roof under passenger seat

Have you cleaned out the drain tubes? There is a 'rain rail' underneath the rear lip, which diverts water off the top and down to tubes on each side. The tubes get clogged up with leaves and whatnot. You can use a coathanger to CAREFULLY clear the debris. Check out www.miata.net for more Miata information than you could imagine.

Happy Motoring!

Wet rear floor

Have you by any chance jacked up the passenger side, or got vehicle on a hoist to make sure there isn't any plugs on the underside that may have fell out? They could be round or oval metal or rubber plugs, probably in that area.
