Misfires, runs rough, black smoke-90 blazer

Blazer sat for a year (through a winter) because of tranny issues(would't shift out of first). Put a fresh battery in it and it started right up. Soon as I tried to move it it began running rough and misfiring spewing black smoke all the while. Put a little fresh gas in itand a gas treatment. Was able to get it started (had to keep it to the floor for a few moments) again but still rough and smoky and died a couple of times while trying to get it back off of the street. Want to get it running smooth again before I tackle the tranny..any idea where to start.

you need to replace the fuel pressure regualtor underneath the plenum , ck fuel pressure if it drops suddenly after you shut the engine down suspect fuel regualtor , use to have to replace the whole spider assembly now i think you can just replace the regulator

SOURCE: engine runs terrible

Fuel line or fuel pressure regulator leaking, both are inside intake.

Check the fuel pressure regulator. generally "failure" position is full open which will richen up the fuel mixture. also check vacuum line to the regulator for cracks and good connection.

Most likely the battery and possibly the alternator are bad.

My 1999 chevy blazer wont shift out of low

My husband had the same problem with his 1988 S10 Blazer. We drained the tranny, cleaned out the pan and put in a new filter etc. Filled with new fluid and all problems solved. Shifts better now then before the tranny service.

I have a 1989 Full size chevy blazer that sat for 6 yrs. Transmission delays shifting out of first gear. Its is almost at 20 mph before it shifts into 2nd. I put an engine from a 95 tahoe into the blazer....

It could be low transmission fluid, a plugged transmission filter, or defective torque converter. I would start with the fluid, then the filter. If these do not solve the problem, I would recommend a reputable transmission mechanic to assess the issue.

HEVROLET BLAZER 2000 MISFIRING

Timing is off, problem with timing chain, also check fluids in ******,plus also if you have a distributer in your vehicle,if it is cracked, moisture getting in and ruining the points,-that is if your vehicle has a distributer! This will make a vehicle run rough as well.
You can have new plugs put in,but if your spark plug wires are cracked or worn, this will also creat misfire and backfiring.

Sounds like you may have damaged the parking claw. Put the parking brake on when you park on an incline, You may need a new parking gear or gear claw.

Hard start, rough idle, some black smoke, engine service light on

A scan for trouble codes may point you in the right direction quickly, rather than hit & miss, with replacing parts. Some of the autoparts stores will scan for free, and your right where you need to be to get the right part at the same time.
