You need to replace your "airbag diagnostic monitor", and the "airbag sensors" as well as the airbags.

Once your airbags have been deployed, the airbag sensors may be damaged and may cause deployment for no appearant reason. You must replace the airbag diagnostic monitor, because it's internal thermal fuse blows upon deployment, and will not deploy a new airbag.

If you purchase airbags, and related parts from a salvage yard, make sure the diagnostic monitor is the same model as the one in your vehicle (the model number is on top of the unit, the manufacturing date is listed last and is irrellevant), but ford does use the same unit in most vehicles of the same year.

To replace the system, disconnect your negative battery cable and wait 1 minute before doing anything. Your airbag system is designed to be able to deploy for 1 minute after a power failure, so do wait 1 minute before doing anything.

In a 1995, your airbag diagnostic monitor is located inside the vehicle, center console area, under the heater and blower control assembly. It is a silver box that has 2 wire clips connected to it, and is retained with a couple 10mm bolts. (Don't get it confused with the larger computer that is under the radio area, the monitor is behind the computer)

Your 2 sensors are located in the front of the grill area, and 1 is in the driver wheel well area. All are held in by a few bolts, and have a long wire clip attached.

The driver airbag is held in by 2 bolts that are easily accessed on the back of the steering wheel, then a couple wire clips inside the steering wheel.

The passenger airbag is held in by 4 bolts that are accessed, by removing the glove compartment, and a wire clip behind the airbag in the dash area.

Airbags blow with extreme power and can be as dangerous as helpful. If you intend on doing the work yourself, follow the instructions carefully.

Install everything in reverse, and DO NOT HOOK UP THE BATTERY UNTIL THE REPAIR IS FULLY COMPLETED!

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

Replaced radio cant reset airbag light no communication

and you forgot to defeat air bags doing this service
you do know they can kill right? why do that.
the FSM has warning on every page for that. heed it.
why not now, get the car serviced for bags and make it safe.
but first check all fues, my guess, wild, is you blew the fuse.
skipped the FSM rule step one pulling battery neg lug before any electric service. so you skipped them both.
or you wired in a short circuit and now the fuse blows full time.

Replacing airbags

Remove the negative cable from your car battery before replacing car air bags. Not removing the negative cable could deploy the replacement air bag, causing injury. More car obd2 scanner to maintain car with cheap price.
Deactivate the air bag by removing the air bag fuses. Look in your car owners manual to locate the fuses.
Unscrew steering column paneling and remove the airbag bolts on the back side of the steering wheel. Pull out the airbag until you see the back side and unplug the wires.
Plug the new airbag into the wires and rebolt it back onto the steering wheel. Replace the car steering column panels.
Replace passenger side air bags through the glove box or main dash panels. Remove the glove box by taking off the glove box straps and undoing the hinges. Unplug and unbolt the airbag, slide it out the front of the dash, slide the new air bag in and rewire and rebolt it.
Put the glove box or dash panels back together. Reconnect the fuses in the fuse panel and the negative cable on the car battery and you're finished.

2002 jetta tdi airbags problems

It is not supposed to be possible for the airbags to deploy when the car isnt moving. Sounds like the car had a defective airbag system, Just be grateful it never blew up while you were behind the wheel. If it were me I would contact VW and see if they are willing to help you. And if you decide to replace the airbags, I would fight like crazy with the insurance company to have every aspect of the airbag system replaced(all sensors and computers associated with it). If you are in America, your state has an attorney generals office, If no one is willing to work with you, A friendly and concise letter to the attorney general usually straightens everyone up.

Airbags....

New bolts can be purchased from the dealer or found in a wrecking yard. What I recommend is that you ask the dealer what bolts belong there and find a match elsewhere. You may save a few bucks that way.

I'm concerned as to why your airbags blew. The sensors that activated your airbags in the first place may cause your new airbags to activate as well. Be very careful. I strongly suggest that you consult a professional about your situation. This can be a very dangerous job.
