How do I reattach the glass on the driver door of a 1999 ford explorer? due to a sheet of ice the power window motor lowered the track but the window was stuck in place. I put glass back into the clips it will go up and support the window in place but if I try to lower the window the glass comes back out of the clips

The problem is the power motor gear that raises and lowers the window is worn out. The motor runs, but the gear cannot engage with the gear on the window regulator.

You Will Have To Remove The Door Panel And Put It Back In The Track.

u are going to have to remove the window and the rail it sets and have a glass shop reset it with a special tape.

This job is essentially man against beast with hammer style of job. You will need an alignment after you are finished, seriously easier and safer to let a shop do this.
If you do it yourself be advised of the HUGE potential energy stored in the spring, and do not allow it to release....

The gears in the motor are probably broken. There should be detent marks in the door where the motor is located. Drill about a 1/2 hole through the detents. There are 3 8mm screws holding the motor to the regulator. replace the 3 dowels in the motor. Good luck.Hope this helps.
