The problem is the power motor gear that raises and lowers the window is worn out. The motor runs, but the gear cannot engage with the gear on the window regulator.

SOURCE: need to replace upper and lower ball joints on a 1999 Ford Exploe

This job is essentially man against beast with hammer style of job. You will need an alignment after you are finished, seriously easier and safer to let a shop do this.

If you do it yourself be advised of the HUGE potential energy stored in the spring, and do not allow it to release....

SOURCE: my 1993 Ford Econoline E150 van driver's door

The gears in the motor are probably broken. There should be detent marks in the door where the motor is located. Drill about a 1/2 hole through the detents. There are 3 8mm screws holding the motor to the regulator. replace the 3 dowels in the motor. Good luck.Hope this helps.

Drivers side window motor works but glass seems to have come lose how is it attached and can it be reattached

remove the door trim and check that the runner for the glass is not out of the regulator. If the glass has come out of the metal strip you will have to take it out of the door and replace it . Use new rubber strip (from a rubber shop and very thin) place the rubber in the metal channel and use plenty of liquid soap ( dishwashing liquid) Press the glass back in. Let it dry off for a couple of hours and re assemble in the door.

All parts inside door are good , the window was frozen and went to open window and glass seperated from the track, what do I need to do to reattach glass to track? Goo, clips what holds glass to track

Did the plastic window retaining clips break? If so then I suggest to either fabricate metal clips, or buy them, and JB weld them to the glass. In 10 years this is the only way to defeat the plastic windoiw retaining clip problem.

1998 ford explorer rear window removal

Hi there:

  1. Remove the door trim panel and speaker if applicable.
  2. Remove the screw from the division bar. Remove the inside belt weatherstrip(s) if equipped.
  3. Remove the 2 vent window attaching screws from the front edge of the door.
  4. Lower the glass and pull the glass out of the run retainer near the vent window division bar, just enough to allow the removal of the vent window, if equipped.
  5. Push the front edge of the glass downward and remove the rear glass run retainer from the door.
  6. If equipped with retaining rivets, remove them carefully. Otherwise, remove the glass from the channel using Glass and Channel Removal Tool 2900. Remove the glass through the belt opening if possible.

To install:
  1. Install the glass spacer and retainer into the retention holes.
  2. Install the glass into the door, position on the bracket and align the retaining holes.
  3. Carefully install the retaining rivets or equivalent.
  4. Raise the glass to the full closed position.
  5. Install the rear glass run retainer and glass run. Install the inside belt weatherstrip(s).
  6. Check for smooth operation before installing the trim panel.

Hope this helps.

How do I remove the drivers doo panel to get to

It's usually the window winder that presents the problem . Remove all visable retaining screws ie; Grab handle , Internal door opening lever , Button on top of panel (if applicable ) etc . The majority panel are a pop snap on type . Remove the winder lever withthe aid of a shoe lace or thin piece of cloth material, The winder is retained by a horse-shoe shaped spring clip. .... Pull the shoe-lace/ material in the opposite direction of the winder retainer clip and it will easily come off, but it is a spring clip and may fly off so be careful. Good luck

Driver's door glass pulls out of regulator clips, glued them with windshield sealent.Still pulled out.1998 ford explorer/Power windows. What could be wrong, window track not bent..have you heard of this...

am not familiar with that model but if the glass sits in a track (Steel with rubber lined) then the glass has to be removed and the track "beaten" onto the galss, Try at your peril as it is easy to shatter the glass if not done properly. You must use a rubber hammer.

Most window glass units are bolted to the rail but you do not mention this.
