Hi, recently I have been having an issue with my 99 Passat sometimes failing to start, (I get all my dash lights but it won’t turn over, the battery has been tested) that being said I have also been having issues with my security system led flashing constantly since last summer. (I already checked fuses and replaced the relay but it still keeps clicking and flashing constantly) Could these two issues be linked, in other words does the Passats' security system cut ignition if it thinks its been broken into. Let me just add this all started with electrical problems, I had to disconnect the automatic lock for the truck because it kept constantly engaging the lock and running my battery dead. Any advice you can give me on these trying issues would be greatly appreciated.

I have a real strange problem similar to this. I bought a 96 passat with a Simba Immobiliser fitted. About 3 weeks in I turned the key in the lock the same time my girlfriend tried the handle to open the door and then when I tired to start it, it just wouldn't. It would start for half a second and then immobiliser would cut engine out. After about 3 or 4 days of trying to work it out (unlocking and locking doors, turning off & on siren with key, etc) it suddenly starts?? Its then been starting with no problem at all for about 4 months.
Today I get in open it as normal, just myself, go to start it and it suddenly does the same thing again???
Anyone have any ideas to sort this at all as its starting to really annoy me? Simba have no gone bust so no help there.

try the comfort control computer

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:
Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery.
Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15
seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

dealer only ,might get away with a re programme of the chipped key ,worst case scenario is a new ECU

VAG only, which means plug in a computer and get a reset , but you will not be able to do it DIY.
