VW Passat failing to start/security alarm issues are they linked?

Hi, recently I have been having an issue with my 99 Passat sometimes failing to start, (I get all my dash lights but it won’t turn over, the battery has been tested) that being said I have also been having issues with my security system led flashing constantly since last summer. (I already checked fuses and replaced the relay but it still keeps clicking and flashing constantly) Could these two issues be linked, in other words does the Passats' security system cut ignition if it thinks its been broken into. Let me just add this all started with electrical problems, I had to disconnect the automatic lock for the truck because it kept constantly engaging the lock and running my battery dead. Any advice you can give me on these trying issues would be greatly appreciated.

I have a real strange problem similar to this. I bought a 96 passat with a Simba Immobiliser fitted. About 3 weeks in I turned the key in the lock the same time my girlfriend tried the handle to open the door and then when I tired to start it, it just wouldn't. It would start for half a second and then immobiliser would cut engine out. After about 3 or 4 days of trying to work it out (unlocking and locking doors, turning off & on siren with key, etc) it suddenly starts?? Its then been starting with no problem at all for about 4 months.
Today I get in open it as normal, just myself, go to start it and it suddenly does the same thing again???
Anyone have any ideas to sort this at all as its starting to really annoy me? Simba have no gone bust so no help there.

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:

Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

2003 VW Passat wagon, trunk alarm keeps indicating the luggage compartment is open and alarm goes off. Many dealer attempts to fix have failed. Is there a specific fuse for the trunk latch/alarm?

Hi

You have to replace the latch of your trunk. The contact is in the latch and most of the time you have to change the wire and the connector because they are oxided and make a resistance.

If I remember well you cannot remove any fuse to solve your problem because the fuse will affect some interior lamps and door lock system.

I had the same problem on a VW Golf

99 Vw passat, changed cracked oil pan now engine statrs up and shuts down after a few seconds as if a security issue

The oil pan should have a sensor in it that is just for that reason. If it looses so much oil it will shut the engine down to prevent engine damage. Either the sensor is cracked or broken or the wires going to it are not plugged in or are broken.

VW Passat failing to start/security alarm issues are they linked?

Usually on the passat, if the immobiliser is on, there is a yellow key symbol flashing on the clocks as you try and start it. Do the doors unlock with the remote key? If no flashing light and the key fob working, i would be looking at possibly starter relay. This is either located under the fuse box or under a plastic cover near the windscreen under the bonnet.
