98 Ford Explorer Door Problems- how to open without panel removal. inwinblades .... HELLO panel removal??? door won't open... Been searching all ... ok this better work on all doors, im aboutt o try this on my rear passenger door. .... I didn't care about the plastic door handle so i just "busted" it to pieces.
It is important to remove the screws first. There is one behind the SRS cover, one at the back by the latch and the plastic square piece comes off, one hidden behind the plastic cover at the handle to open the door and one at the bottom of the handle that you pull to close the door. Make sure there isn't a small courtesy lamp at the bottom of the panel. After all of the screws are out, take a plastic wedge and slide it between the panel and the door and twist it to pop the panel away from the door. Slide it around the door doing the same thing until it is just hanging from the top of the sill. You may have to use the wedge at the top to pry it up there as well. Don't pull it away too far because the line for the door latch is still attached and the window switch connector is still on. You will have enough room to pull the connector out and release the door latch line to the handle. I hope that helps you.
