Not sure if they are connected. But it started with the trunk ajar light coming on while driving. Not all the time though.I could ding a couple of times and then go silent. Sometimes it will ding for long periods. Now the panic alarm will go off by it self when we lock the car. this morning it did it three times in 5 min. then it was ok any help would be great thanks

there should be a switch mounted( or more than one) in the door jamb that tells the car when the car door is open...i will probably look like a little plastic plunger...might be broken off or bad internally
SOURCE: Headlights and radio display goes off sometimes
Certain circuits go through the ignition switch and sometimes the points in the switch become gummed up with carbon. The easiest fix is to replace the ignition switch. The switch can, however, be disassembled and cleaned by a skilled mechanic (there are many small springs and parts that have to be assembled properly).
Long story short, replace the ignition switch.
Hope this helps

If this problem doesn't happen every time i would not only change plugs but wires as well. The wires can move if they are loose or even heat damaged and interrupt the spark. If this doesn't help it sure won't hurt. Next look at the oxygen sensor and change the pcv valve. Then i would move unto cleaning/replacing the MAF sensor and possibly the throttle position sensor too. It sounds like you need a good tune up thats all.

The door latch has a switch built into it to replace the old door jamb switch. If the switch is faulty the system will think the door is ajar. A scanner will show an open switch.

well it has passlock two and this is common with these cars. never seen the other issue to accompany it but if you do a relearn of the key and it starts then it could be two different issue's but if it don't work then they are related.
a relearn of the key is done with the ebrake up to keep the day time running lights off ( not an issue for you) but do it anyway. put key in the ignition and turn it to the on postion right before crank for 10 sec. turn it off for 10 sec. then turn it back on for 10 mins. repeat two more times back off for 10 sec. and then back on for 10 mins. it is cruishle you try to keep with in the times or very close. 10 seconds and 10 minuites three times and that will relearn the key and if it starts then you may have two issue's but hard to tell with out testing. but i think this is the best thing you can do for now.
i have a customer that can't afford the passlock module and labor so i taught her this and she is better then me now at it. lol... but like i said very common issue. let me know if you have any more question. good luck
