Engine failed to start got it jump started, upon driving it home the engine would almost cut out when stopped or slowed down then all dash lights came on and it finally cut out in the driveway (luckily i got it home, only drove 2 blocks away)please help. Thanks in advance
Check all connections from battery to ground, battery to starter relay etc.etc. Check wires to and from alternator. *** check voltage output of alternator. im 95% sure its a bad alternator.

there is an ignition module located rite beside the distributor cap on the distributor base these are well known for getting weak and heating up thus causing your engine to stall.

I had a similar problem on our Polo 1.4. I replaced the throttle sensor body which I bought online for about £100. It solved the problem and was easy to change with the right tools. VW garage wanted £350 for the part alone!!

check battery cables make sure they are clean and tight and make sure the alternator charging battery. first check battery volts. should be 12.6 volts. with engine running alternator out put at battery should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts. if not either alternator failed.check alternator power feed wires and voltage regulator wires for damage or make sure electrical wires has tight connection.check alternator battery.first turn off radio before before disconnecting negative battery cable.
