locate the oil pressure switch: The oil pressure switch is usually located near the oil filter or on the engine block, close to the oil pressure gauge sender.
Check for oil leaks: Look for any visible oil leaks around the oil pressure switch and its connecting hose. If you see any oil leaks, it could indicate a faulty oil pressure switch.
Check the oil level: Check the oil level in the engine and look for any signs of a decrease in oil level, which could be a sign of an oil leak.
Listen for any unusual noises: If you hear any unusual noises coming from the engine, such as a hissing or whistling sound, it could indicate a leak in the oil pressure switch.
Monitor the oil pressure gauge: If the oil pressure gauge is reading low or fluctuating, it could also indicate a problem with the oil pressure switch.
If you suspect that the oil pressure switch is leaking oil, it is best to have the vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic or a Hyundai dealership
The oil light comes on when the oil pressure sensor detects low oil pressure. The amount of oil has little to with it, although very low oil levels can cause loss of oil pressure. The best thing to do is to have the engine's oil pressure checked with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to ensure that the oil pressure is sufficient at all operating speed and temperatures. If the oil light is still flashing on and off and there is no indication of low oil pressure by the gauge, then replacement of the oil pressure sensor is recommended.
Your oil light is not a level indicator, it is a pressure indicator. If your oil light is on with the engine running, it either means that you have a bad pressure sender or you have no oil pressure. I suggest installing a mechanical pressure gauge to verify if you do or do not have oil pressure. If with the mechanical gauge you do prove to have oil pressure then simply change your oil sending unit. But if you do not have oil pressure with the mechanical gauge, then you must drop the oil pan and find out why you have no pressure.
low oil pressure is 4 or 5 psi not 100.....did you oil pressure test or it is the truck oil pressure gauge ..I think the oil pressure sender unit could be the problem but oil pressure test done before
first thing check is the engine oil level.if oil level okay check oil pressure should be for the 4.2 engine oil pressure should be 12 psi @ 1200 rpm for the 5.3 oil pressure should be 18 psi @ 2000 rpm if oil pressure good problem in the oil pressure sending unit. if oil pressure is low problem faulty oil pump or worn crankshaft bearings if oil pressure low engine will have rod knock.make sure you are using correct oil viscosity if oil too thick you will have low oil pressure oil too thin you will loose oil pressure.
LOW OIL PRESSURE WILL CAUSE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH OR SENDING UNIT TO DISABLE FUEL PUMP.CHECK FOR OIL PRESSURE.REMOVE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT SCREW IN OIL PRESSURE GAUGE TESTER INTO BLOCK WHERE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT GOES TURN ENGINE OVER CHECK FOR OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 18 PSI @ 2000 RPM. BESURE TO WRAP TEFLON PLUMBERS TAPE AROUND THREADS TO THE OIL GAUGE PRESSURE TESTER OIL WILL SPRAY EVERY WHERE.IF YOU ARE GETTING NO OIL PRESSURE.YOUR OIL PUMP FAULTY.YOUR ENGINE CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS WORN OUT.WORN DAMAGED CAMSHAFT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR OR OIL PUMP DRIVE ROD DAMAGED OR BROKEN. IF OIL PRESSURE OKAY OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT IS BAD.
It means the sensor that detects your oil pressure has seen a situation where the oil pressure is too low and engine damage will result. Could be just a bad sensor, but better have it checked with a mechanical gauge to see exactly what the pressure is.
Check your oil, it may be low if not the oil pressure needs checked. The sending switch could be bad or you have low oil pressure. If you have low oil pressure have it fixed ASAP. The loss of oil pressure can cause severe engine damage.
