I cleared the codes but what caused the light to come on the service tech. from auto zone checked the computer and it didnt show any problem

The warranty company was able to find a used transmission for $900 which was still under warranty and it will cost 11.5 hours for the install, plus shop supplies and diagnostic. Total cost about $2000. I drove the car for probably at least 10,000 miles and it was leaking a small amount of transmission fluid even after I fixed a seal (waste of money) before getting it fixed. I didn't see the fluid though on my garage floor though as there is something that would catch it.
Cadillac dealer stated this is a known problem with the clutch assembly and that there is a bulletin out on it. The reason the car stalls is due to the transmission not the engine. When the car is at a light or the like there is apparently too much strain from the tranny and it stalls the engine. My car didn't get that far, but after reading a bunch of stuff and looking up the codes it appears to be the case. Of course you could get lucky and the solenoid is just bad, probably not though due to the bulletin.
You can read the codes and clear the codes easy enough. If you don't know how there are many posts on the net.

yes and no disconnect the battery both sides, now without touching the battery touch black to red wires, this resets any codes. if the light comes back on you will need a pcm scan to get any error codes from it.

If you like go ahead and let someone sell and replace your transmission but here is my suggestion! Check around and see if you can find a minor vacuum leak! This can simply be the big round hose that goes from the fuel injection to the power brake hub! This is normally a push in connector which has about a 1/2 inch hose clamped on it! If there is any kink or the connector is not in correctly a leak will occur and the transmission will shift rough as though you will be thrown out of the vehicle! Try unplugging this connector and plug it back in hard and straight and maybe you will be lucky and fix your problem. If the vacuum is correct your transmission will shift better than you have ever experienced!

Hi ROBERT L BARNES, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
What codes came up when the car was checked at Autozone?
Will
it didnt show a errer code
You stated that you cleared the codes. I need to know what those codes were before I can help you diagnose the problem. After you cleared the codes, it will take a while of running the vehicle for them to set again.
