4 hours ago - where are the timing marks on a 1994 mazda 929 3.0l - Mazda Cars ...1994 Mazda E2000 Cam Timing Mark Positions to Replace Timing Belt ... on a 1994mazda v6 dohc 24 valve engine How to align the timing mark on the ...
set mark on crankshaft to TDC mark on timing cover. set mark on cam pulley to align with mark on head .if more than one mark on pulley rotate by hand till exhaust and inlet just rocking then align closest marks .
The timing marks are on the front harmonic balancer Locate the one cylinder if on firewall side then use number 4 front middle remove spark plug cut a coat hanger and slide down spark plug hole DO NOT START ENGINE rotate crankshaft with socket wrench watching coat hanger until it can not go any higher and not bending by getting stuck against cylinder wall. This will be TDC now you can see if reference mark on crank pulley aligns with pointer mark with fingernail polish so easily can be seen with timing light.
well, I hate to tell you, but they never made such a beast. 1994 Mazda 323 , with a 2.0 lt engine, and also no v6 was ever installed in a 323, now if you have the original engine that will be a 4 cylinder 1.6 liter timing mark on the crank and cam is at 12 o'clok., the cam says up, and you line up the mark at 3 o'clock, to the block, i hope you changed the water pump, coolant and rolers ?
If I understanding right, you set the timing on your mazda. you may have set timing on the exhaust stroke. Rotate the crankshaft again with the belts off and realign the timing marks. You need the number 1 cylinder top dead center on the compression stroke not the exhaust stroke. Also take off distributor cap and make sure rotor is pointing toward number 1 cylinder spark plug wire when at top dead center. Hope this is what you were asking.
look in the back of the engine by the transmission side for a small window that has marks or numbers in it..then there is a notch in the flywheel visible when the no.1 cylinder is a top dead center on the mark there..takes a strong flashlight or droplight to see this..
timing an engine is a time consuming process
to begin timing an engine you must
1. find the 1 cylinder
2. remove the timing belt cover
3. remove the spark plug form the 1 cylinder
4. put a screwdriver into the spark plug hole
5.rotate the timing belt until the cylinder is at the top of the chamber (thats what the screwdriver is for)
6. mark the top of the timing wheel with a pastel marker
7. with a timing light set the idle speed to the factory settings
if you dont have a timing light you can normally get it fairly close by listening
its not just the camshaft timing marks you set up, you also have to have the crankshaft timing mark set right to or you may damage your engine
check the internet for the right timing procedure for you model car ok
