I am thinking that the new( read wrechers unit ) had the same fault as the original. have it checked out by an auto electrician
You will need to make sure wiring is good to distributor and grounds are good, make sure the distributor you got if rebuilt that it is no a defect and last do some testing.
first check for spark at the plugs,
Check a Chiltons or Haynes manual, the igniter may be separate from the distributor.

you should check 3 things. AIr, Fuel, and "spark"
your cars could have many problems. Ignition module, fuel injectors, Mass Airflow Sensor.
You should check into all of these 3 things.
a crank-no start could be many things.
it could even be a cam positions sensors resistance going up when the engine heats up. Cracnk- no start means testing. n like i said
The motor is getting Air, There is Fuel being put into the cylinders, and the Spark plugs are firing.

pull one of the plugs out leave the plug wire on it and rest it on something metal on the car and have someone try to turn it over.if no spark can be seen try changing your crankshaft sensor

you have pcm problems or ASD relay problems.they both control the fuel and ignition.

Check HALL sensor , it's probably inside the distributor , another name for it is a camshaft position sensor.
SOURCE: car wont start, not getting spark
crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.
