Losing fuel Got an 06 ford w/ 6.0L diesel, it dies out after about five minutes, like it is losing fuel.Just replaced failing fuel pump module on frame rail. Upon die out you can hear fuel pump on frame still running. Then checking secondary fuel filter housing it is just over half full of fuel. If you let it set over nite all fuel drains out of secondary housing, no obvious leaks.Any Ideas?

CHECK THE TORQUE ON THE FUEL FILTER CAP ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. SEE IF THE RUBBER O-RING IS INTACT. IF THAT CHECKS OUT THEN LOOK AT THE FUEL LINE GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWL AT THE FILTER BASE. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR AN HONEST RATING. BEST OF LUCK.

Hey I think your fuel pump is bad I had the same problem on a 96 f150 it would run for about a minute and shut off I replaced fuel pump and it fixed problem one more thing you need to check if it has duel fuel tanks. check the fuel pump on the frame rail this helps pulling fuel up to engine if this pump is bad it will case the in tank pump to over work and shutdown.

Truck turn off after 5 minutes

Could be clogged fuel filter that's in fuel line on frame back by the fuel tank. Also could be bad fuel pump.Lose fuel pressure when it gets hot.Pressure check place is on fuel rail. Auto parts place can put gauge on it and watch the pressure as the car warms up.Usually for free.Bad news pump is in fuel tank.Good news if there is second pump it's on frame do you feel lucky?Got carb?Go with fuel pump but checking it is harder.

Is there an access panel to the fuel pump on a 2002 ford excursion

FOR DIESELS=The fuel pump is located on the frame rail on the drivers side of 2002 and newer models for sure. Some older models locate them above the fuel tanks and are a pain to get to. if you slide under the vehicle just behind the drivers door look up into the drivers side frame rail on the side of the frame rail that is closer to the center of the vehicle. it is wraped in a black foam boot and it has wires coming from it. you can see the fuel line coming out of either end. One leading back to the tank and one going towards the engine. fuel pumps on older models is located on top of the fuel tank. You must drop the tank in order to get to it FOR GAS= Check the frame rail. If not, so..sorry it's above the gas tank
