Hello, i have a 1999 hyundai coupe (called tiburon in the U.S) with 74,000mls its a 1.6 petrol, it is only running on two cylinders there is no spark coming to 2 + 3, i have changed the coil pack to no avail the problem still persists, i'm thinking i mite need to change the e.c.u??? wot do you think? Do a compression test to see if those 2 cylinder have not burned a head gasket. if the head gasket blew between the cylinder then no compression and no power.
Did you consider the coil you replaced it with is also bad
Most electrical problems are either a short , loose connection, or software issue.
Check to see if your vehicle has a CPU test point. If so take it to Autozone and they will test the codes for free.
If the CPU (computer) is good then you probably have an open circuit somewhere. Check for loose connectors or broken wires.
A short usually blows the fuses and then none of it works.
A good volt/ohm meter is handy for tracing circuits.

Cylinders 2 - 4 - 6 are facing the radiator. Cylinder 2 is closest to the drive belts.
Cylinders 1 - 3 - 5 are facing the firewall, cylinder one closest to the drive belts.
Hope this helps; and Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

Stevie is on the right track. I see a ton of dead cylinders as well. Try a compression test if the gashet checks out.

A misfire doesn't always have to be ignition... it's just the most common cause. Faulty or plugged injector, low compression. You need to check fuel pressure and test the fuel injector flow. Then check compression. If you don't have tools for these tests, take it to someone who does. Testing is much cheaper than throwing parts at the problem.

did you replace only one spark plug? that can cause issues because of differences in resistances between cylinders. also, did the map code stay off after replacing
