2005 Dodge Durango 5.7 HEMI I was parked with the engine running and the abs light popped on, then the brake light came on and then a couple seconds later, the air bag light pops up and finally the check engine light decided to pop on too. I shut the engine off and when I turned it back on, everything except the check engine light was gone. Any help from anyone would be great. I have 42,000 miles and there are no freebies at the dealership.
A loss of communication between modules can cause this. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect to clear any codes and retest. If the check engine light comes on again you will need to find out what the code is and then we can go from there.A loss of communication between modules can cause this. Google search Fuse diagram for 2004 Dodge Durango Limited 5.7l/ Hemi look around if no answer look on the fuse box cover. Diagram usually located inside.
Usually the battery light means the alternator is not charging the battery. The ABS light means there is a problem with the ABS brake system which may include the normal hydraulic brake system.
On import cars the warning lights can be connected even if only one system is having an issue.
The regular brake warning light is for the parking brake being applied or the brake fluid is low. You would need to get the abs system scanned for trouble codes to proceed.
check fuses and relay for ur abs- possible bad relay or abs unit -have vehicle scanned some auto stores such as auto zone /advanced auto do scan for free ur trouble code(s)will give u a place to start
check all fuses first, make sure brake lights are working.the soliniod that operates shift lock sounds like its not working, sometimes its the fuse or brakelamp switch. hope this helps.
Problem: I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 L HEMI. My ABS and Parking Brake lights were illuminated, and my speedometer needle would "bounce". Also when sitting at a stop sign or just sitting idle, the engine would stall, and often times stop running.
Solution: After long research on this problem, I decided to dig in and try to find the problem myself. I replaced the Rear ABS Sensor
($35) that's located on top of the rear differential. Still no fix. I then unplugged the ABS Controller (or Module) that's located directly behind the battery (You should see the metal brake lines running into the top of it.) When I unplugged it, I noticed LOTS of moisture in the plug. Using an air hose, I blew out the water and let it dry good. When I plugged it back in, and hooked the negative battery terminal back up THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED!! Simple fix. Hope this helps.
Sometimes if the gas cap is open while the car runs, the Check Engine Light turns on. This is common and happens on many vehicles. Try unplugging the negative part of your battery, let it sit for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and start the vehicle up. Most of the time the check engine light will disappear. If it persists, you might have to get a mechanic to clear the code and settle your check engine light.
