I assume you have an auto trans. This is a subject which has attracted much controversy and debate. For a while there Honda transmissions had a lot of problems traced to incorrect fluids. I asked a Honda dealer mechanic in our family and he reckons only use the Honda ATF-DW1 which was formulated especially to overcome shift problems in autos.
Did you check your fluid level? If this is on a Borg Warner World Class T5 transmission the check/fill hole will be on the passenger side of the transmission. Unscrew the bolt and check. Fluid should be even with bolt hole. If not fill it with ATF. Yes they use ATF. Fill it up to bolt hole(fill it til you spill it) and replace bolt.
your tranny shifts according to pressure the transmission control unit regulates the pressure to provide smooth shifts you need to take the car to a good tranny shop that has a scanner that can check the shift points
Automatic or manual? Need more information. Automatic for this model should be no more than 3 quarts of Honda DW1 ATF. Manual should be no more than 2 quarts of Honda MTF.
you better replace your ******.the rebuilding kit is not guaranteed,it will last for 2weeks you will feel again the slippage of your gear, we have same problem before..but now my sharkie is good running condition.
use 5-w30 oil make sure to use honda atf z-1 trans fluid or the dw1 honda fluid it will save you alot of problems. Use regular dot3 brake fluid and I recommend using honda power steering fluid.
Castrol Syntorq® LT 75w85w full synthetic gear oil is the only factory approved lubricant for NV4500 transmissions. ATF is for automatic transmissions and approved manual transmissions. Drain and flush with the correct oil as soon as possible or you will be rebuilding again soon. The ATF will just cause the transmission to wear out faster and shift oddly in all the gears, it shouldn't have affected only 4th. I'd take it apart again and see if you missed anything or if something else in the transmission is out of spec.
