My dad recently replace the camshaft position sensor in my 1996 Dodge Intrepid but now he's getting an error saying there is a camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. He says he's getting no spark and he's tried everything he can think of. I'm a newly single mother with no money and no car knowledge at all. It's the only vehicle I have. Any advice on how to fix this thing? Thanks so much.
DO U UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF "OUT OF PHASE"?? IT IS THE MECHANICAL TIMING OF THE SIGNAL FROM EACH SENSOR TO THE ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER, WHAT IS THE CODE? ALSO TELL YOUR DAD (NICELY) THAT ATROUBLE CODE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEANS A FAILED SENSOR, ONLY A PROBLEM WITH THE SIGNAL, THAT CAN BE THE WIRING, IT CAN BE MECHANICAL OR IT CAN BE THE SENSOR, MANY POEPLE DON'T GET THAT AND SPEND TON'S OF MONEY CHASING CODES.I HAVE DONE THIS FOR 35 YEARS AND AM SURE OF WHAT I AM SAYING 100%
Make sure your not confusing cam w/ crankshaft sensor

My dad assures me its the camshaft sensor. It's an ES model with the 3.5 engine. (Hope that's what you meant.) If the sensors are out of phase what do we do about that? Thanks a lot for your quick responses.
