Wiper fuse keeps blowing intermittently.

My 2001 hyundai accent keeps blowing wiper fuses. The problem is intermittent, but frequent. I have taken the motor, the washer pump, and the relay out of the out of the circuit one by one to test for faulty components. The fuse blows even with none of those components in the circuit. Most recently, I tried replacing the fuse with a 20 amp auto reset circuit breaker in an attempt to delay the problem, or at least stop buying fuses while I troubleshoot. After putting in the breaker i drove about 3 feet, and blew the 30 amp fusible link for my ignition. These are much more expensive than the fuses I was blowing. It seems to me that the 20 amp circuit breaker should have tripped before blowing a 30amp ignition fuse. Can someone help me???

I have already tried a new motor, with no success. The fuse even blows when there is no motor installed at all.

It looks like the wire circuit for the wiper motor is touching the car body when shaken so the only thing you can do is shake the wires and terminals yourself while engine is running then maybe you can pinpoint where the earthing is.

The Wiper fuse keeps blowing? Any Ideas?

Does the fuse blow as soon as you turn on the switch? Or do the wipers operate for a bit then the fuse blows? Will the wipers work in intermittent mode? Can you move the wipers by hand? Unless other wiring work has been done (eg radio replaced) I suspect the wiper motor is toast.

Keeps blowing wiper fuses 2005 hyundai accent

Good Morning,.
Have you gone to the dealer and asked about a recall on the wiper motor? (bring your VIN #.

Also, go to the PARTS Department, not the service Dept (they want to make money from you) and ask for a schematic wiring diagram for the motor to assist with reference is further is needed.

you may want to check the wire circuit as the wiper motor may be touching the car body when shaken You may want to also shake the wires and terminals yourself while engine is running - BE CAREFUL OF MOVING PARTS..

Also, Your wiper motor may be about to go out, if it hasn't already, wiper motor pulling to many amps will cause the fuse to blow.

I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go!!

Please provide feedback and thanks for using fixya!

Best regards,

My Santa fe has suddenly started blowing the fuse in the windscreen wipers. My local garage has had it in 3 times and replaced the fuse each time. On collecting my vehicle the wipers have worked initially...

Someone, like a competent electrician, should diagnose this problem. Either the problem is in the wiring, OR, the wiper motor is INTERMITTENTLY shorting out blowing the fuse. Have the vehicle properly diagnosed by a qualified Hyundai Service Technician. Best advice.

2001 sonata wiper fuse keeps blowing

If the fuse blows as soon as you put it in and the wipers are off then you have a short between the fuse block and the wiper switch.

If the fuse blows only when you turn the wipers on then more than likely the wiper motor has shorted and burned out. This one is very likely if the snow storm was heavy and you was driving in it. Cause- Moving large amounts of snow and ice off the window puts a heavy load on the wiper motors.
