Replaced timing belt on isuzu rodeo 3.2l now it won't start - checked and rechecked - all marks are lined up
The cam pulleys turn 3 or more turns to one of the camshaft. You need to find someone that is experienced on this vehicle. Just aligning marks does not mean its in sync.
Then the cam were on the wrong stroke. The lines may have been on their marks but the wrong stroke. Without the belt on turn each came gear clockwise until it springs into the position where the mark on the cam is right on the marks on the head cover. The passenger side will be set, the drivers side will need another 1/4 turn clockwise. There should be marks (raised circles) on the timing cover back plate at those two spots, those will be the timing marks. You will notice the cams dont spring into those positions on every turn, that means they are not on the right stroke to set time.
