I have a 2001 Ford Focus and recently I've noticed that sometimes the horn just stops working. The first time I noticed it was a few months ago, I pulled the fuse, put it back in and the horn worked again.
Yesterday I noticed it wasn't working, but the fuse trick didn't help. The horn itself works since it sounds if I use the remote to lock the doors, but it wouldn't trigger when pressing the steering wheel. It was still not working after parking my car in the garage and turning off the car so I called the dealer and made an appointment.
This morning the horn was working again. The dealer said they can't diagnose the problem unless I can bring it to them when it's not working.
I have no idea how often it stops working since I really only notice the problem when I need it, like I did yesterday.
Any ideas what's going on here?

Hi , if like a similar problem i had years ago , the problem is either a bad connection on the steering wheel or an earth fault on the horn its self ? the car i had the fault on was a mk1 golf and under the steering wheel was a copper strip round the neck of the wheel where its connected to steering rod.....the connection (similar to a motor armature brush) was not making a good connection, i cleaned them with wire wool and hey presto. hope this helps??

I could understand it being a lose wire, since I had one of those on the negative battery terminal, but normally a lose wire doesn't "fix" itself when the car is parked.
