evap switch monitor is mounted to the frame under vehicle towards the rear. You're misusing terms. There is no physical "monitor". Monitor is a software action. There components the PCM, purge valve, vent valve and evap switch monitor.

actually your aspen would start then die out after about 3 seconds. if you have tried this repeatedly, Now it does not start at all (your ECU is now locked up since it thinks you were trying to steal the vehicle). The little red light is your antitheft system. Your remote head key has failed. You can find a locksmith that does these at www.findalocksmith.com or you can have it towed to the dealership for a computer reset and another key.

check for a wire that you have not connected up around the gear box area

If the problem is fixed you won;t have to reset it provided you haven't driven too many miles. Once you have driven too many miles you will have to return to the Toyota dealer to have it reset.

the computer has an auto reset mode that if a component is faulty but not serious it will reset itself until workshop computer is connected,then if fault still exists it will show up on the fault memory.If the light comes on and stays on then worry......
