SOURCE: rattling sound after adding one quart of synthetic oil ,crankcase

oil shouldn't cause this symptom. (syn. oil and reg. oil - their is only a 1 percent difference between them) a rattle noise could be a valve rocker arm OR (the rattle i had) the catylitic converter. the honey comb stuff broke up into pieces inside.

SOURCE: my car rattles when Go up a hill or go over 30 mph

My 95 TownCar rattled like that right after I got it . It was running hot. I finally got it home and filled the cooling system and it didn't rattle anymore. To fill the cooling system COMPLETELY, you must remove the top radiator hose at the engine and loosen the top radiator hose at the radiator and twist it upwards. Fill the cooling system till liquid comes up in the overflow container. NOW the cooling system is FULL.

SOURCE: runs rough at idle (with rattling sound) RPMs do

Runs rough at idle can be caused by loose or weak spark plugs, dirty coil pack, faulty idle air control motor, low fuel pressure, there are many other possibilities too.But as you mentioned that the check engine light is On.The check engine light comes On when the error codes stored in cars engine computer. So did you got your car scanned at diagnostic center to get error codes. If not then,to get car scanned at diagnosis center to get error codes, At diagnosis center you will receive the error code. As per the error code it will detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is occurring. For more help: --- at www.autozone.com it's absolutely free to get car scanned. ---------

2000 Daewoo nubira's oil light comes on, not when cold, but after it warms up, and only while idyling, goes off after you gas. Car rattles a bit at idyl. Could it be a loose sensor? Jill

sensors do not cause a rattle
from your description there is something more serious that a sensor
it could be hydraulic lifters that are worn out as the car is 16 years old which would allow for excessive loss of oil pressure at idle

Lifters rattling and engine oil light is on? 1998 ford taurus...lost!

I agree with Ray Gallant. Also, you might need to change oil and filter. Dirty oil will cause the lifters to shake, rattle and roll. Or the wrong weight of oil - especially in cold weather.

1993 ford f150 oil pressue gadge running low after truck warms up

I would put a oil pressure gage on the truck and verify that the pump is good. The lifters should not rattle unless someone has been adjusting the valve lash. At 196000 miles the lifters maybe getting weak, push rods could be wearing.

Rattle when accelerating and starting up

lifters lack oil/ lubrication. engine warms up oil flows better. Change oil now and go to 5W30 synthetic.

Hello, I have a 2001 chevy tracker with a 2.0 engine. It has a ticking noise after it warms up. during up shift at RPM's about 3000 it rattles like lifters, but go away after the shift. Some times

when oil is cold it is thicker and stays [on]coats metal as oil warms up it thins out and flows better[makes it thinner will hear ticking] sounds like a bad lifter or even camshaft lobe problem ,could also have a problem with a loose or out of adjustment rocker arm

What is the rattling noise i hear when i accelarate in my cadillac deville. 1995

Check your oil. If oil is too low, it makes a rattling noise in acceleration. Also, be careful that it isn't your timing chain. The timing chain, once it's starting to fail, will make that noise as well.

Engine rattle when cold, sounds a bit like lifter rattle. Goes away after warms up.

Start with fresh oil change and filter. Make sure you are using the correct manufacture recommended oil wt. and rating. The counter person at the part show should know what to give you.

Lifters rattle when you first crank it up for about 5 mins until warm, Shouldi replace the lifteror wouldbe wasting my money to do so,.It runs great an use no oil 3800 -v-6 in a 2001 camaro, what...

Are you sure that the noise is a rattle? lifters make a ticking noise, pistons, piston pins and bearing rattle, lifter tick goes away in seconds, piston and bearing related noises take longer, and in the case of rod bearing not at all, it sounds like you may have piston noise, and in that case I would not worry about it, I would run a few cans of combustion chamber cleaner with you next 2 fill ups, carbon build up on the the # 1 piston ring land can cause the piston to "rock" in the cylinder and make a rattle type noise. I have a 1996 Corvette that has a rattle, it is a piston, GM checked it and told me not to worry about it, of course that advice cost $50.00. Also this type of noise is common to the later production 3.8L V6. Hope this sets your fears of a large repair bill to rest, just drive it, but make sure you use the correct oil and change it when recommended.
