I had a tyre failure with my 2007 X3 BMW 2.5 right rear. Drove about 30km with narrow spare, and then replaced both rear tyres with same size as in front but slight difference in height. lower at the back than front. Now I find a surge when gearbox change from 1st to second! What can the cause be? Could it be the tyre height difference?

Albeit slight, it may affect the speedo reading & ESP/Traction control if fitted.

Turn the ignition on and attach your seat belt. Use the thumb wheel to scroll thru to the tire indicator. Press and hold the button at the end of the stalk(turn signal) for appx. 2 seconds and then release and then press and hold again. It will either have a box that comes up empty that will have a checkmark when the system is initialized or it will say "resetting". At the BMW national website for whatever country you are in you can go there and look at the complete manual and it will state for sure what your vehicle takes to reset.
