Brake lights don't work on 97 chevy lumina sedan

My 3rd brake light works, but the other brake lights do not. the taillights do work. any ideas what this could be?

Had the same issue in the spring. Replace the turn signal switch. A general weakness in the switch in these years. Replacement solved the problem in my 97 Lumina.

Replace the turn signal switch and it will fix the problem. same thing was happening to me. Trust me it is worth the fix!

Check brake ( stop ) fuse, and brake light switch under L/S dash by brake pedal for 12 volts in and out with test light. Hope this helps.

Yes,try pushing down on brake pedal while pushing on the hazard switch if brake lights come on replace hazard switch.

I put led tail light on my 2005 tahoe and now my third brake light does not work???
are these bought from chevy or are they aftermarket? Alot of aftermarket taillights are designed to work on several different models and they wont always have the necessary terminals to route power to an optional 3rd brake light

How do I replace Brake light switch?
Make sure the switch is the culprit. Do the other taillights work when braking? if so, look for a problem elsewhere, such as wiring to the 3rd light. Give special attention where the cable is routed through the trunk lid.

I have 2 problems, one is my fuel gauge isn't working properly, wondered if it's the fuel sending unit or something else, and 2, if someone could tell me why i have a 3rd brake light, but the other br
It could be a couple of things it could be your sending unit. a bad wire. or possibly the gauge its self. but the bad thing is you have to take your gas tank down to check the wires and sending unit. if you take the tank off you can pull out the fuel pump and sending unit and use a ohm meter to see if the sending unit is reading all the ranges correctly hope this helps you out
