No. The 99 Deville was the same from 1997-99 and the front end changed in 2000. The 2001 will be the same 2000-05 and comes with or without hood ornament. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't believe it either-get the codes read somewhere else, and write the codes down, then come back on here for help-a flashing OD light could be as simple as a minor electrical problem. Does it drive alright in the other forward gears?

Before you waste any more money, buy a Peake R5/FCX check engine analyzer and code resetter. It's $140.00 but well worth it! It gives you BMW specific codes and tables to properly diagnose your problems with the car.

have a garage or auto parts store check the code with an analyzer and that will tell you what the problem is

Try pushing the automatic adjusting lever away from
the Star Wheel with a screw driver then with another screwdriver turn the star wheel. Watch your brake shoes. Turning the star wheel one way opens the brake shoes wider, turning it the other way closes the brake shoes. The star wheel is the rod like thing with a slot on both ends that
slides in between your brake shoes. It will have threads on it.

The star wheel you are looking for is partially protruding sideways through a slot behind the drum.

Your rear hatch needs to be adjusted. There are two adjuster. One on right and left. They are black in color and are located just below the hatch lift support. Use the correct size torx/star screw head to adjust.

No, you might have to pull some of the intake, as thes cars use a coil over plug configuration. Trace the wire to where it goes. You can do this, take your time and take picture with digital camera before if you have never done this. Once you pull the plug, If it is brown rusty color you have a leaking head gasket. Be sure to test all cylinders with a compression tester befor putting things back together.
