Alot of the time on GM vehicles, a "no start" situation can be tracked back to the anti theft security system. A common symptom is the infamous "wait 10 minutes" and it will start trick. Read this link carefully and compare your symptoms. Try all the tricks and look for an icon that says "security"when this happens again. If you see this icon light up. Then this is 100% the problem. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
TAKE DISTRIBUTOR CAP OFF TURN IGNITION OVER SEE IF DISTRIBUTOR BUTTON TURNS.IF SO IT IS MOST LIKELY IGNITION MODULE.IF IT DOESN'T IT MAY HAVE SHEERED THE LOOK PIN IN SHAFT EITHER WAY ITS NOT VERY HARD TO FIX.((IF ITS A 4CYL 8PLUG CAP MAY BE JUMPING FIRE))
I guess it runs if you jump it at the starter??? if so, power comes from the ign switch to the trans (neutral start switch, then to the Starter relay, then to the starter. so ck all that wiring an dsee if maybe you knocked something loose, or try to start it in neutral.
hi there the things to check are do you have a spark at the plugs?
do you have compression ?
are the cam shafts turning?
is the cam belt intact?
this are all needed to make the engine run it will turn over great but not start with this things not working infact if the last 3 are not there it will sound diffrent when you are turning it over with the key.
The fuel pump will run for a short time when you turn the ignition key on to prime the line then waits until the engine is running. Check the fuel filter and replace if plugged then check the fuel pressure should be abouve 27 psi
