Have a 2001 Hyundai tiburon that won't start. Battery was replaced in July when had same problem and mechanic says clutch starter circuit switch needs to be replaced. Is this a legitimate diagnosis? Or just the response from someone who doesn't know? Otherwise car runs fine. Clutch was replaced 1 1/2 years ago.

If it's a standard transmission, this could be possible.Another way you can try is roll the car up to speed and throw in in gear and see if starts. The ignition must be on

SOURCE: Immobiliser ?????? so i have been told

If, when you switch the ignition on, you get a dash light on, the symbol is a car with a key overlaid, you have somehow activated the immobilser You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this may reset the immobiliser, If this does not work you will have to contact a Hyundai dealer to get the immobiliser unlock code.

SOURCE: Tools needed for replacing 2001 Hyundai Tiburon CV joints.

CV joints are not hard if you do some research. Get a shop manual first. You will need a good jack, two jack stands. I am not that fam. with the Hyundai, but some fwd cars have med/ large bearing retaining bolts so you will need 1/2 drive socket set up to say 33 mm. You will need a whole day or 2 to do this. set aside that much time in case of some road block. You have to pull both wheels and fender wells. On some cars you will have to pull the struts or the lower arms that hold them to the body to give room to pull out the cv assy. Do one at the time on some fwd's if you pull both the ring gears can fall out of sync and thats not good. Buy the complete cv axel rebuilt if you can. Work slow, take pictures as you go, be careful.

SOURCE: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon making a weird noise

Hello mpolci...The 2003 Tiburon was sold to the public with a defective clutch, it failed due to warpage and bad pressure plate... among other things. There are MANY class action lawsuits. Did you resurface or replace the flywheel when the clutch was replaced? Did you go with an aftermarket clutch kit, or factory? Also the slave cylinder on the 03 was known to have a defective valve.
You can try checking the levels and bleeding the system and if you still have problems, then it could be a release bearing, a loose clutch pad, or a broken pressure plate spring....If the clutch is still under warranty, i would return it to the installer.
Good luck, i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.

SOURCE: overheat 2001 hyundai tiburon

Only 2 parts remaining are the thermostat and waterpump. Always start with the thermostat when diagnosing an overheating problem. If the car is overheating constantly under all conditions and coolant is backing up into the reservoir, it's very likely to be the thermostat. If it only overheats at low speed or idling, it's more likely the waterpump.

2003 HyundaI Tiburon GT Diag No-Start

You could check for power on the small orange wire at the starter solenoid on the starter motor-with the key held in start position. Should have power there in start. If you do, take starter off to be tested. If no power, signal is lost between ignition switch and the solenoid. Next find the starter relay under the hood. Hold your finger lightly on it while someone turns the key to start. If you feel a click or movement, check orange wire from there to starter solenoid. If nothing at the relay, move to the starter clutch pedal position switch- a simple on/off switch-check for power to the switch with key held in start. With clutch pedal pressed, it should pass power on to the starter relay, with key in start. If you have no power at the clutch switch in start, between there and the ignition switch is the Burglar Alarm Relay and the BCM box. The start wire out of the ignition switch goes to the alarm relay, and another wire from relay goes to BCM (body control module) to activate the relay so power will pass from ignition switch to clutch switch. That's all, Nathan, pretty simple but then again, not...better invest in a test light or digital volt ohm meter (DVOM). Good for checking electrical circuits, hope its not the alarm or BCM.

1998 Honda Accord Won't Start

Park neutral safety switch maybe be the reason for the no crank ! Try putting the vehicle in park ,then try to crank the engine . Testing the electrical circuit is the best way to trouble shoot this problem , along with do a voltage drop test on the starter circuit ! This will test the battery cables an connections .
Starter Voltage Drop
How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit
Does it have a manual or automatic transmission ? Manual ? clutch switch . Looking at a wiring diagram I also see a starter cut relay !
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Free wiring diagrams . Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click engine , under subsystem click starting . Then click the search button , then click the blue link ! Check the starter cut relay also . Videos on youtube showing how to test a relay controlled circuit !

Flooded Hyundia Tiberon 2007

If your Hyundai, Tiburon refuses to start, it may be something more serious than a flooded engine. When the spark plugs look fine and the fuel injectors are running well, you may need a new charging or starting system for your car. If the starting system fails, then you need a new unit in order to get your Hyundai, Tiburon back on the road. The starting system in your Hyundai, Tiburon includes many parts such as the battery, ignition switch, starter motor and solenoid. Once you have the source of the problem contained, you have complete access to quality replacement parts here. Whether the battery dies or the ignition switch fails, you can find the parts you need for your Hyundai, Tiburon. Get your car back on the road when you check out this selection of charging and starting systems for your car.

Is this a major fix should I have towed to dealer Taking out mortgage on my residence first.

Sounds like a weak driver's door lock/unlock actuator (rusted/oxidized) w/the trans clutch safety switch (Ignition Lock Switch) circuit8209a90.jpg
eeb47a1.jpg There is also the possibility the burglar alarm relay(starter kill) circuit is 'OPEN'. To check the starter solenoid circuit & starter, go to the U/H (under hood) Junction box and remove the starter relay. Jumper the starter solenoid circuit at the relay connections in the junction box 40a2524.jpg
Driver's power window problem could be the control switch itself, or the motor has stalled (if only stalled, a simple 'SHOCK' to the motor can get it working again). With the driver's door window switch held in up or down position (depending wether window is UP or DOWN), momentarily HIT the interior door panel at the arm rest 'INWARD' (not too much force... just a SHOCK) you don't want to break the door panel. If this doesn't work, you'll need to gain access to the motor & connector to see if power & ground are present at the window motor connector pins.3595015.jpg8bc893e.jpg

Car losing battery

Possible faulty starter motor. If it is stuck on, you will not always know, it will drain your battery and burn itself out, particularly the solenoid. It could blow other fuses, check and replace if required. Try replacing starter motor. Some times you can give the starter motor a sharp tap and it will work but not always, first sign of a dodgy starter motor is click click click.
