We came home tuesday night put 2009 Mazda5 in garage and shut it off at 7:30 pm then wife went out at 7:00 am Wednesday and it would not do anything when tried to start it. What the heck?

Remove battery and clean the posts of corosion , also the contacts from green gue , sand the contacts , re install . Clean main contact to starter also .

The switch may have gone bad.. or the module that controls the wiper... if the fuse went bad, it would not work.. REMOVE the fuse if you want it to stop...
