"look for your air filter box. its a big square box on the right hand side of the car under the hood. you cant miss it. ther should either be clips or screws holding the box together. you have to get the top off of it to get to the filter... just replace the filter, and put the top back on and ur good"

You have to remove the glove compartment to access the filter. Couple of screws and your done These filters are expensive: 25-30 dollars!
The installation instructions for the Honda Civic DX, LX, and EX s are in the package when you purchase the cabin air filters.
Location of cabin filters: Behind the glove compartment, behind an access door on the passenger side of the vehicle.
To remove existing filters:
1. Open the glove compartment and locate and remove the hindge tabs on both sides of the inside of the glove compartment. The tabs are plastic, and pry out very easily. Once you've pried them open, remove each.
2. Just let the glove compartment door swing down. Note: all the contents will fall out. :-)
3. There is a black plastic horizontal door. Open the door, no tools needed, and remove it.
4. Pull out one filter with its plastic frame.
5.Slide the second filter over, and remove it and its frame.
6. Remove the dirty filters from each frame. (Mine were quite dirty.) And replace with clean filters in each frame.
7. Reinstall both filters and frames into the filter housing.
8. Reattach the filter access door. Tilt the glove compartment door up. Replace the hinge tabs on the inside of the glove compartment.
9. Put all of your staff back in the glove compartment. And you're done!

Hi .. 2004 Honda Civic EX at 61000k miles .. going to purchase , when is the timing belt to be changed ? pls advice.. asap . so as to finalise the deal .. also 60 k maintaince is not done.. so that...

Timing belt need to be done around 100K miles. You might want to check the brakes. Fronts struts are known to leak on this model car. Trans fluid will need to be replace. Air filter and pollen filter might need to be replace if dirty. I worked on Honda for 8 years and this model doesn't have too many major problem, but I can't say that for the one you're buying.

Air filter in "04 civic

It is in a plastic case located on top of the engine just behind the ignition coils right in the center of the engine. It is held on by a handful of bolts and screws. Just take the top cover off and you are there.

2004 Civic air filter

It's under the hood on top of the throttle body. Use a screw driver or nutdriver to remove the screws of the lid. I recommend a K&N Filtercharger. It's the last air filter you'll ever have to buy for your car.
