Hello sadieduckdog: Here is the picture again. Sorry for the delay. I will write it out in case it did not come through.Engine warmed up. air cleaner on.A/C off.transmission in neutral.disconnect (tan/black) wire.located ion passenger side of truck inside the cab. taped to the wire harness below the heater case.connect timing light and adjust timing as needed. stop engine reconnect wire halves. clear computer codes. Most fuel filters are now in the fuel tank with the pump. If I knew the year, make and model, I could tell you for sure.

89 Chevy S10 GMC pickup loses power after I accelerate..and backfires after I shift gears.2.8 liter engine. I've changed the fuel filter.

try this while running in neutral rev the engine if it still back fire check timing , adjust if needed if that does not solve issue the go to the plugs check spark gap use delco plugs if u can and last check vacume line u could have a hole in line this was the issue with my s-10 hope this helps

sounds like ignition module inside of distributor cap under distributor rotor button.these do go bad and can easily be replaced.strong suspicion from your details that this is the culprit.
