When i start the car it idles ruff and dies sometimes the check engine light is on. It dies while trying to drive when you let off the throttle.
I have an 89 Buick lesabre. It usually takes my car anywhere from 3-10 tries before starting. Once it does start, it sputters, and sometimes dies if I don't hit the gas pedal. It's even died while driving. It barely wants to take off when I press the gas, it takes about 30 seconds to get to 40 mph, and now it doesn't want to go any faster.
Un hook the exhaust don't take it completely loose just loosen the bolts and let the exhaust separate from the intake manifold enough to where you can see a gap there. When it is apart try cranking the car then see how it runs if it runs much better you catalytic converter needs replaced. this is a free test and costs nothing but your time. If this does not make it run better get back to me. We will need to check other items like the throttle position sensor switch. Is the check engine light on ? If so you should have the computer scanned for trouble codes first. The codes will point you in the direction to look for the problem. You may have two different problems. Engine dies at a stop is usually a dirty throttle body or problem with the idle air control valve. Running rough could be a long list of things.
A stalling problem doesn't have to turn on the check engine light . Try some basic thing's like cleaning the throttle plate (body) air passages for the IAC - idle air control valve . There are videos on youtube , also check for a vacuum leak !
no its more than likely not related to the trans,if you are having shift problems though,i would have the tps(throttle position sensor) checked out.another thing to check is the vacume lines to and from the egr valve and the valve its self for proper operation.
From your description of the problem The first thing that comes to light is the idle air control valve. This devise is mounted near the throttle body and controls the airflow past the throttle plate when the throttle is closed. There isn't a position sensor on itso if it becomes sticky it won't turn on your check engine light. It's a fairly common problem. I have tried in the past to free them up but it never seems to work out well. Hope this helps you along to a repair.
My friend, you seem to have fuel problems. the honda have an electric fuel pump inside the gas tank. it maybe old and does not develop enough fuel to the injectors that explains why it conks out. first replace the fuel filter, it maybe clogged that fuel cannot flow anymore. if it still conks. check the fuel pressure at the fuel filter it should develop 32psi or more. otherwise, replace the fuel pump. the worse is that your injectors are contaminated with FOD, you have to replace the 4 injectors.
