Check with chevy a dealership service (phone call) , there are 2 different types if your car is an automatic. If your car is a standard , it could be gear lube , or even Automatic trans fluid.

On a parked level surface, warm up the motor to operating condition; while the engine is running, check the transmission fluid level by removing its dipstick. Check your owner's manual if you're unsure how to check your vehicle's transmission fluid levels.
The color of the transmission fluid should be red and have no burnt odor to it. Should there be any discoloration or burnt odor, the transmission will need repairing by a trained ASE certified transmission specialist.
If it is only a matter of adding transmission fluid (see recommended fluid type in your owner's manual), keep the levels between the minimum and maximum levels- please do not overfill.
I would also check the area where the car is parked overnight for staining or puddles from a leaky transmission.
If the transmission is still experiencing shifting problems, there could be a problem with the vacuum modulator or something electrical with the sensors in the transmission or with the bands and clutches; again, a qualified mechanic will have to use computerized diagnostic tests to pinpoint the problem.
Transmission fluid, readily available at any parts store or Walmart, is found in the transmission pan. Look in your owner's manual's index (which should be in the glove box) to find the dipstick location. Frequently, when you pull the dipstick to check fluid level, the type of fluid to use will be etched on the dipstick at the fill line. It should also be printed in the owners manual under Recommended fluids or fliud capacity. See index under transmission or fluids. What vehicle do you have?
Honda recommends "Honda Genuine Manual Transmission Fluid". I've been using Amsoil Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid for the past 48,000 miles and have had no issues.
TEST THE FLUID WHILE THE ENGINE IS STILL HOT FOR A PROPER READING. THE TRANS FLUID TEST STICK IS TO THE REAR OF THE MOTOR. . THE FILL CAP IS NEAR IT YOU WILL NEED A FUNNEL
