I have a malibu 2006 and my power steering is freaking out on me.It all started be the steering wheel moving by its self while i'm stopped. now the light is going on and shutting down the power steering. I hear it has happened to many of them out there and that's not good for chevy owners. When is chevy going to do something? when someone dies?
The steering is also freaking out on my 06 Chevy Malibe. While stopped the steering wheel shakes back and forth, and while driving down the road it moves itself to the left and the right, making it very hard to keep on the road sometimes. "Power Steering" displayed on my radio screen and when I took it in to GM they said it was the Power Steering Assist Motor. Sounds Like I am not the only person out there having this issue with the 2006 Chevy Malibu. Chevy should be doing something about this!!!
2006 same garbage - intermittent, no indications of when it will happen, just error reading on radio screen until it resets itself.
car has also developed a fuel tank problem. doesn't want to accept gas, seems like a sensor error 2006 same garbage - intermittent, no indications of when it will happen, just error reading on radio screen until it resets itself.

When you turn the wheel to the right, the vehicle (when in motion) will veer to the right. Conversely, when you turn the wheel to the left, the vehicle (again, when in motion) will veer to the left.
The turning of the steering wheel is made easier by the advent of the electric power steering. its precursor, hydraulic steering assist, performed the same task in a different manner.
Is that what you were asking? NO? SHOCKING! (PLEASE ASK AN ACTUAL QUESTION THAT CAN BE ANSWERED.)
yes you can, make sure fluid in power steering is full. jack up car and move steering from left to right, til it hits wheel stops. keep checking fluid level. when bleeding air from system, raise idle to about 1500 rpms. then turn wheel left to right. after done recheck fluid level.
The power steering is electric on that car. It has a electric motor on the column, and a control module. There are several causes that could be the problem. You need to have it scanned to get a better idea of what to do. If you can give me the codes you get then I will be glad to advise you on what's best. Good Luck

No more problems, this is a common problem with this electric
steering system.
