My 1998 Jetta (VR6) is having shifting problems, it's an automatic and when i put it in drive it takes a few seconds for it to go in gear, and as i drive it jumps up in RPM's about every 10 seconds. It one jumps about 200RPM's. It also slips out of gear somtimes as im driving for a few seconds then it go back in. I have put a new trans computer and a multi function switch and neither one helped. What can i do next??? Thanks Matt

Before you began replacing components, did you check for engine codes or the transmission fluid level ? Who determined to replace the two parts that you mention ?

1.1 mm is the standard gap for a platinum tipped plug. Plugs for this car usually come pre-set but it's always worth checking before installing. Hope this helps.

Where is transmission solenoid located on 1995 vw jetta !!!!

Inside the transmission case above the pan. You should probably let a transmission mechanic handle this one.

Can't shift when car is cold

I have a1998 VW jetta vr6 glx with the same problem and living in New England it gets really cold, but i did some research and it worked.... With the car in neutral and the E-break engaged, reach down and pull up on the clutch pedal, thus "resetting" the tension in the cable, it will be a bit higher on your foot and the release/engage point will be higher as well but i did this when it was 10*f and i could not get any gear, after pulling up on the clutch, shifts with ease,,,, such a relief
