Engine Cranks But Will Not Start Basic Checks:
A. Test Fuses. Test both under hood power distribution center and the fuse panel under dash. This is done with a test light tool. The test light should illuminate on both sides of the fuse, if not the fuse has failed and needs to be replaced.

B. Testing Fuel Pressure Test for proper fuel pressure with a test gauge on the fuel rail, most throttle body injection cars (TBI) are between 13 psi and 17 psi. and most (DPI) direct port inject systems are between 40 psi and 55 psi. If no or little fuel pressure is observed and there is 12 volt power present the fuel pump, the fuel pump needs replacing.

C. Checking Timing Belt Test for compression by removing a spark plug and insert a compression gauge. Crank the engine over about 5 seconds the gauge should read between 125 psi and 165 psi, if no compression is observed remove front engine cover to inspect timing belt or chain. Crank engine to observe cam rotation, if the cam does not rotate the timing belt or chain has failed. (note: if the timing belt drives the water pump it is best to replace the water pump at this time)

D. Test for Injector Pulse Remove injector connector to insert injector test light (node) or volt meter. Observe light flash or gauge pulse while cranking. If light/voltmeter doesn't respond, an ignition distributor/crank angle sensor (CKS) or an ignition module is most likely your problem.

E. Test for Ignition Spark Remove spark plug wire, insert an extra spark plug into end of wire, rest spark plug next to a ground source then crank engine. You should observe a blue spark between the spark plug gap and ground source. If no spark is observed, an ignition coil, ignition rotor or spark plug wires might have failed. (always keep hands away from engine when cranking)

How to check valve timing and injector timing on Fiat Ducato 2005 2.8 JTD engine?

If I knew the answer the description would be too protracted for the space and time available here.

You are likely to be able to find a how-to video on youtube. If the injection system is a common rail type the timing will be electronically controlled.

Engine manufacturers are increasingly not using timing marks as the engines are built by robots and timed by jigs, and an increasing number of setting tools are needed to work on engines in the aftermarket.

FUEL INJECTION PUMP BLEEDING
(1) If the fuel injection pump has been replaced,
air should be bled at the overflow valve before
attempting to start engine.
(a) Loosen the overflow valve (Fig. 18) at the
rear of the injection pump.
(b) Place a towel below the valve.
WARNING: WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE TO
BLEED AIR FROM THE INJECTION PUMP, THE
ENGINE MAY START. PLACE THE TRANSMISSION
IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND SET PARKING BRAKE
BEFORE ENGAGING THE STARTER MOTOR.
CAUTION: Do not engage the starter motor for
more than 30 seconds at a time. Allow 2 minutes
between cranking intervals.
(2) Crank the engine for 30 seconds at a time to
allow air trapped in the injection pump to vent out
the fuel injector drain tubes. Continue this procedure
until the engine starts. Observe the previous WARNING
and CAUTION.
(3) Tighten overflow valve.

-PRESSURE FUEL OF APPROXIMATELY 45,000 KPA
(6,526 PSI) TO EACH INDIVIDUAL INJECTOR

THE SKIN AND CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

Does anyone have a diagram for the timing marks on a case g188d diesel engine that I could see

if you know where the timing marks are supposed to be the use the old method of cam/crank timing to check and adjust to where the marks will be. Remove no 1 injector and turn the engine over until no 1 piston is coming up on injection stop when you reach TDC. mark on flywheel of harmonic balancer. If there is valve clearance ot both rockers turn the engine another 180 degrees and bring the piston to TDC again. watch the rockers and if you turn back a few degrees or turn forward a few degrees you will see ( in the forward direction) the exhaust valve closing and at the same time the inlet valve will be opening. This is known as valve rock. As you move the piston bacvk and forward over TDC you will see the valve movement. set on TDC and check the timing marks with the positions indicated. Remove and reposition the cam shaft gear to achieve the correct mark alignment or pull the cam shaft out just enough to realign the teeth to the mark. At the most you will be about 1 tooth out. The pump timing will be out 180 degrees as you are setting the valve timing on the induction stroke and you will need to turn the engine 180 degrees to compression stroke for the pump timing marks to line up. the injection mark on the flywheel is what you are looking for and when it is at the correct number of degrees as indicated by injection / lightning flash sign then the marks for the pump should be just about lined up

How to purge air from a cummins 24 valve diesel fuel system

CRACK LOOSE THE INJECTION LINES 2 OR 3 OF THEM WILL BEEN ENOUGH. TURN THE ENGINE OVER TILL FUEL STARTS PUMPING A LITTLE BIT. THEN TIGHTEN THE LINES. IF ENGINE STARTS WEHN BLEDING THE LINES SHUT IT OFF. AFTER LINES ARE TIGHT START YOUR ENGINE THE REST OF THE LINES WILL BLEAD AFTER A SHORT RUN TIME.

Timing diesel fuel pump

hi
first remove the timing cover afer remove also remove the crankshaft pully.
now you can see timing belt clearly next remove the valve cover to see valves.
Rotate the engine by hand you can see where you remove the engine bully key grove that key should be top side while you rotating the engine there is mark like -- on the cover behand where you remove the pully so that mark and the crank shark key should in lined.
after that look the injection pump pully you can see front side mark --- look the engine direct behand the bully you can see mark that two mark should be in line have look the engine valves first cylinder should be close and the 4cylinser exhaust valve open.
i thing that will help you.
