ESP is the electronic gas pedal itself. Housed within it is the ESP controller (ECU). Check if your floor mat is hindering the pedal.

Your car goes in "limp mode"!!!
If you scan the EDC-15P engine control unit with a VAG or KTS -BOSCH diagnosis tool you will find this:
"Fault code: P1557 - Turbo Boost pressure control exceeded"
You must try follows if you are able to do this:
1. Engine stopped and ignition switch off. Check all pneumatic connections and hoses between turbocharger actuator = pressure unit for boost-pressure control, boost-pressure control solenoid valve, vacuum reservoir, EGR control solenoid valve, intake-manifold flap solenoid valve, EGR valve with throttle - part of intake manifold. Also the vacuum connection between tandem pump and brake booster. If you find something wrong replace parts. If not go to step 2.
2. Extract the hose of the turbocharger actuator = pressure unit for boost-pressure control part of turbocharger. Instead of the original hose you must place another 1 meter long hose with the same inside diameter, and then you check to inspire yourself the air from the other one extremity of this hose. The mechanical connecting rod of the turbocharger actuator must have a smooth and whole motion. If you can do that with your mouth, then you must replace the boost-pressure control solenoid valve. If you can not reach this with your mouth, then you go to step 3.
3. This is the most difficult work. The problem is that the soot particles deposits inside the turbocharger plugging the variable nozzle geometry mechanism = adjustable vanes of the turbine. If the turbocharger actuator is not able to adjust the turbine vanes the charge air pressure increase too much and ECU (engine control unit) go in "limp mode" = engine protection software. As a result the "limp mode" engine still running until you turn the engine off (ignition switch off) and back on when the "limp mode" is deactivated, but the fault ("Fault code: P1557 - Turbo Boost pressure control exceeded") still remain in ECU memory !!!
4. You must be able to extract the turbo from the engine and then to disassemble the turbocharger, clean inside adjustable vanes mechanism and refit all.
It is some work to do here, but after that you will be full satisfied! NO MORE "LIMP MODE"!!!

SOURCE: vw caddy 2006 heater blower switch only works on 4

I have the same problem on my Caddy /07. Switch only works on #4. Seems they should have supplied switches without faults. Any one know how to remove the dash switch?

Back door on vw maxi caddy 2010 wont open, all other doors working, any ideas

The motor may be moving, but the attached arm to the actuator could be broken, fell off, etc. You will need to open remove the door panel to see exactly whats going on.

2005 1.9 sdi caddy goes into limp mode

Does the yellow engine management light come on during this? If so you should get someone to check the fault codes as there are several reasons for limp moding.fuel lines , electrical system, low oil pressure, overheat issues etc.OD11 testing will save you lots of time and give you a direction of where to put things right.

Vw caddy power steering not working

Check the drive belt to the power steering pump. If it is ok, it could be servo pump not supplying enough oil, all of this is mechanical. May also have something to servo compensator, but I unfortunately can not give any advice. Good luck

I have a vw caddy tdi diesel van blowing smoke from exhaust what would make it do that.

a couple of things it could be , 1 it might be leaking valve guides+seals if they are leaking the oil drips on the pistons and when started it smokes for a while but eventually clears. 2 piston rings, if the bore is scored or you have a broken piston ring this will cause it to smoke, when engine gets to presure and the oil is thin due to being warn it can seep past either the broken ring or through the score on the bore, you can get it presure checked for that one to see if its 2. 3, being a diesel if the timing is slightly out this would cause smoke and it would be getting to much fuel in the pots to burn and you get a build up of fule that does not burn correctly, but you get other problems with that one, slow acceleration, jerkiness, that sort of thing....anyway hope that helps
