Serpentine Belt Replacement

I have a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I'm trying to determine when I should replace the serpentine drive belt. When should the thermostat be replaced.

Serpentine belts should be replaced when cracks are running across"v" portions of belt,when missing ribs 1/2 " or longer,or cracks running parallel to "v" portion of belt. the thermostat should be replaced if the car seems to take a long time to warm up or if the engine runs hot

There is no power steering belt - the power steering pump is driven by the serpentine belt at the end of the engine.
