Sounds like you need to check your vaccum lines for a leak. This is easy to do. Buy a can on carburator cleaner and with a friends help keep the car running as you spray your vaccum lines with the carburator cleaner one by one. If you have a leak it will **** the cleaner into the lines and cause the vehicle to stall out. Replace the line if this happens and continue checking all lines until all bad lines are replaced.

How to know if clutch is bad?

First --if it goes to the floor and will not come back up the problem will be in the hydraulics or cable

next if you put your foot on the clutch and you cannot engage 1st gear then it is the hydraulic / cable system

next if you take your foot of the clutch when it is in gear and the clutch slips and the rpm\'s go up it may be the hydraulics / cable or the clutch itself

IF the clutch has been operating properly until lately I would be paying attention to the hydraulic / cable areas before I would consider a clutch replacement. IF you have no problems with the clutch but would want to test it

place the vehicle in gear with the hand brake hard on . let the clutch pedal out while reving the engine ( hill start) and if the engine dies out or tends to stall then the clutch is good This is a very short time one off test (1-2 secs) at most

RPM high n everytime i shift then car speed keeps on going fast n i dont even step onto the accelerator so i can add more speed of stay on a constant speed

You have to change your clutch kit. I just had this issue and after changing it it runs smooth again.
Just to confirm, you shift gear up, your engine roars (goes up to 4000 or more RPM) but doesn't gain speed until few seconds later after the RPM is back to normal.
If so that's the clutch plate causing the issue.

When i turn my heater on (blower) my car tries to stall out. What can cause that to happen?

most likely your ac compressor is locked up. see if you can disconnect ac compressor clutch at compressor. if problem goes away, you can use heater without any problems..

2003 ford focus rpm runs high when clutch is engaged

since this is a standard and you need to engage the clutch which basically shifts you into neutral to shift gears, this ALMOST sounds like the idle air control valve.

Hey Nashua,

Your Clutch is messed up by what sound of it. You probably have to replace your clutch pretty soon. The car will not die on you when you are driving or anything like that but you should start saving some cash for that clutch replacement you are looking at about $600 to $800.

Clutch Failure

Gary, I've worked in a tranny shop for quite some time now and I've seen this problem before. I'm not going to tell you this is the problem, but it should put you in the right direction. I'm pretty sure the problem your having is indeed in the gearbox itself. Sorry for the bad news, but it sounds like your syncronizers are out of mesh. These ring type sleeves make sure that when you shift gears, it meshes the teeth of 2 gears together. Basically, times everything together. My suggestion would be to take it to a tranny shop and get an opinion from a mechanic, seeing on how it is a major job....and as for the clutch problem, it could be many different factors. Flywheel, Slave cylinder, driving habits, release bearing....and the list goes on. Hope this help you.
