My truck has no passing gear (automatic)

I can can feel every shift 1-3 but if i'm going along and hammer it it doesn't shift into passing gear. i'm thinking the link is broken somewhere. trans fluids are all good as well.

Check to see if you have a linkage problem...may need adjusting or overdrive may be out.

SOURCE: Transmission Not Going into Overdrive

First check and make sure the fluid is full. The most likely cause is a failed solenoid pack. Circuit codes normally mean something electrical not mechanical has failed. The solenoid pack is on the outside of trans pretty easy to replace.

SOURCE: transmission is not shifting gears while driving

First check fluid level. is check engine light on? is speedometer working? this can be caused by a malfuncition vehicle speed sensor or a mechanical condition such as a clogged filtre.

SOURCE: dodge ram 1500 2001 codes coming up 0753 1757 1762

0753 is shift solenoid A, electrical problem.as for the other codes they should start with a zero not a one. if they started with a 0757 that means shift solenoid B,stuck in on position. 0762 means shift solenoid C,stuck in on position. 0765 means shift solenoid D,malfunction

SOURCE: 1996 dodge ram 2500 auto transmission not shifting properly

Well, first do the service. Pull the pan down and look for metal shavings. If there is metal shavings your in for a transmission. If not, you may have a problem with one of the transmissions shift solenoids located near the valve body.
P.S. The Duramax has the Allison 1000 transmission not the dodge cummins and they are one of the best trannys on the market.

Toyota corolla problems

After checking the easy stuff first like low oil level, if it is high RPM(revs) & shifts hard(lurch when it does shift) then I am thinking the transmission filter & oil need to be changed. The transmission filter acts as a suction screen on an automatic transmission & as it collects contaminants to protect the inner workings of the transmission, it becomes plugged which greatly affects the ability to shift especially the high gears at faster acceleration.

I have a 1994 gmc yukon and im having trans issues just changed the trans pan and seal thinking dirty fluid. Well it manual shift 1-2 than over drive than it seems its over idling and like im in...

you are right to think it is a sensor. trash can get into the shift solenoids and make a trans act funny. you could drop the pan and replace the solenoids located in the back of the valve body.

Theres a button on the automatic stick what is it

That may be your overdrive button, try cruising at a steady safe speed and depress the button, you will feel a shifting motion on transmission and OD light may come ON on dashboard, this shifts your tranny to a lower gear when more power is needed without pressing gas pedal so hard that passing gear kicks in.

Overdrive factors

When the car is just cruising along at approx.50+ MPH push the O/D button. You should feel the gears change higher and if you have an RPM guage then it should drop as well to fewer RPMs. This would be normal driving conditions. O/D will not kick in until the last regular gear (3rd or 4th depending on model)  had been shifted into. O/D automatically kicks out when slowing down and the transmission shifts to a lower gear. Thus the O/D has no function at slower speeds/gears and does not need to be shifted ( on or off ) except in the very first example given here.

Can't go pass 50 mph

what gear are you in? does it go through all the gears? how many shifts do you feel? if you arnt getting through all the gears i would look into the valve body and the tcm also take it to autozone or any parts place and have them try to pull a code from the tcm, this will help diagnose if it is electrical, otherwise it is mechanical, good luck and take care
