Check for a spark first, double check fuel pump is running and actually "hums" when you prime the motor. Check fuel filter, clogged fuel filter could be the culprit and explain why it sputterred with starter fluid but wont run without. Good luck.
You don't say if it is a 4 cyl or 6 cyl engine. The code means the O2 sensor is telling the computer the engine fuel mixture is too lean and the computer can not make the injectors provide enough extra fuel to make the sensor go rich. Reasons can be a faulty cooling thermostat, low fuel pressure, vac leaks, exhaust leaks, and other engine problems.
If it's a V-6 engine the filter is located underneath the driver's side just inside where the frame is, on the 4 cylinder it's located under the intake manifold near the front of the engine.
SOMETIMES THEY LIKE TO PUT THEM ON THE FIREWALL ON THE DRIVERS' SIDE UNDER THE HOOD. IF IT IS NOT THERE THEN TRY UNDER THE DRIVER'S DOOR NEXT TO THE CHASSIS RAIL. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. LET ME KNOW PLEASE. GOOD LUCK
