If your high beams are controlled by your blinker lever if you pull.the lever towards you it will flash the high beams on. If you push the lever towards the front of the vehicle(dashboard) it should stay forward. Click it back towards you it will.go back to normal lights
Tom, the high beams are operated via a relay in the engine compartment under the hood. Go there and remove the cover. Printed inside, typically, is a diagram for all fuses and relays. Find the one for the headlights. Have some one operate the lever in the car and listen for a small click on that relay. If no sound is heard most likely relay is stuck. They simply pull up and out. Go to car parts store and buy replacement.
These is also the likelihood that the switch in steering column is the issue but this will tell you that is the case. If replacing the relay dose not clear the problem then it's a much larger project to replace the switch stalk. Do the relay first.
when you pull the handle back you should hear a click and the brights come on and stay on and you turn them off the same way. If you are not hearing a click sound it is likely the switch is broken and the assembly will need to be replaced. If you hear the click you may have blown headlights(on the high beam side) good luck
the problem is with the combination switch assembly which make the lights work it is better you replace the switch assembly for a hazard free drive do visit the nearest Chevrolet or GM authorized workshop where your car problem will be sort out.
the switch under the dash attached to the column has most likely moved and there will be a steel rod that connects from the "Blinker" handle and pushes on the hi/low switch on the column.. If you remove the under dash panel, you should be able to see this steel rod running down the left of the steering column, then at the lower end of the rod you will see the switch. it will have three wires in it. just push down on the part that the rod meets with on the switch and the low beams should work. if this works then the switch is still good and need to be adjusted up alittle. if the switch doesn't click to low beams then you will need to change the switch. good luck
Ckeck the headlight connections they are notorious for corroding. Check the ground connection for the lights. Pull your dimmer switch back as if you were flashing a car to pass and see if they work there. If they do you have a dimmer switch problem.
