It sounds like you have a bad battery. Some times when the battery is bad and you try to jump the car you need to let it charge for 10 or 15 minuets before you try to start it. Or better yet take the battery out and have it charged and tested. I'm betting the battery is toast.

It was 96 outside and temp gauge went from normal to hot lights started coming on then I lost all power. What could this be

Your vehicle ran hot and probably did damage to the engine. Probably blown headgasket and/or cracked head. A compression test will confirm this.

the battery is probably bad, one way to test it is conduct a load test. Hook a voltage meter to the battery post and have someone try to start the truck. If the voltage drops below 10.4 volts DC, replace the battery.

2003 Aurora, left key on and battery went dead. Recharged battery. Won't start. Turn key to on, security light out and check engine light on. Move key to start and nothing, back to on, one minut

Very interesting site here.. regarding your problem. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
Another thought.. even though you charged the battery, it's not at all uncommon for a car battery to be very damaged by fully discharging. Especially if not new-ish. One or more cells in it may be bad causing the overall voltage to be under normal. This alone can cause the problem you have. I would try jumping it with another car or test the battery to see if it's got at least 12.7 to 12.9 volts when sitting doing nothing. Good luck.

You may have damaged the vehicle's ECU, or electrical circuits. Check all fuses and main fuses. Crossing the jumper leads can have very serious consequences.

1997 Cirrus battery went dead. The car ran fine

These cars are known for having engine related electrical problems that can be difficult to track down. One dead sensor is sufficient to prevent start up .

It is possible that your problem had nothing to do with the jump start or battery replacement.

Without a full diagnosis anyone not able to test the vehicle will be guessing.

One thing I would do is to check your fuse panels for all engine related fuses such as fuel pump, ignition and fuel injection to ensure these fuses are sound.
Check all visible wiring carefully including your battery connections. Carefully disconnect and then re-connect the battery at both terminals.

Your best option is to have the car towed to a reputable repairer that is familiar with these cars so he can run a full check and isolate the problem.

Whether you have blown something in the course of jump starting the car is unknown.

In future, when jump starting these older vehicles always turn the headlights on and do not turn them off again whilst the vehicle is running until after the spare battery used for the jump start has been fully disconnected. Everything else should be off.

When turning key all the way over it simply does nothing what could it be

Hi,
You'll likely need a new ignition switch. (The electrical side) You can confirm this by pulling the lower steering cover when issue is occurring, and using a test light on the black and yellow wire when turning key to "Start" position. If test light doesn't illuminate, replace switch. (Easy)

The ignition switch is in the cylinder where the key is inserted. Can you have the dealership check it out to see if the electrical circuit to the starter is working...........
