You obviously have an electrical short, Power seems to be pulling directly off engine to sound system somehow. Never heard this one before. First thing I'd do is check where wire is feeding to sound system and eliminate it.

Testimonial: "And the large ground wire goes where on the engine?"

And the large ground wire goes where on the engine? Could that be causing the noise?

  • James Billet Nov 13, 2013

THERE IS A LARGE BLACK WIRE COMING FROM NEGATIVE SIDE OF BATTERY (-) GOING TO ENGINE BLOCK. I'D ELIMINATE ANY OTHER WIRES THAT ARE NOT FACTORY TO BE HOOKED UP AT THIS TIME

SOURCE: 04 chevy cavalier. clutch started sticking to the

replace and re bleed clutch accuating cylinder, hoses and resevoir. Possibly a leaking throw out bearing, See if leak is coming from underhood firewall (Drivers side) or from between where eng and trans meet. If leaking at eng trans its the throwout bearing

SOURCE: TORQUE SPECS /HEAD GASKET/2001 CAVALIER...

for the 2.2L OHV:
(pully 8 4 1 5 9 <-- long bolts @ 63Nm (46ft/lb)
side ) 7 3 2 6 10 <-- short bolts / 10 is the stud @ 58Nm (43ft/lb)

for the 2.4l dohc are as follows:
(pully 9 3 1 5 7
side) 10 6 2 4 8
bolts 1-8 torqued to 65Nm (40ft/lb)
bolts 9-10 torqued to 40Nm (30ft/lb)

then (either engine) give each an additional 90° (¼) turn

it's best to do the tightening in stages, you don't want to go completely tight on the first pass or there will problems and you'll get to do it all over again

Changed head gasket, now won't start.

I would need to know the actual code numbers to comment, but in general those components would not keep the engine from starting.
Have you checked compression, spark and fuel pressure ?

The 'theft system' light does not turn off with the key in the run position on my 1999 chevy cavalier. car won't start, it won't even crank over. the battery and the starter are brand

try locking your car with the key and unlocking it with the key, leave it for 30 second or so between the locking and unlocking , the car thinks some one has tampered with it

Car overheated and wont start, does crank over, it blew a radiator hose, replaced it, but still wont crank over

Sorry! sounds like this one is too far gone! If it blew the radiator hose off the engine, then the head gaskets or the cylinder head itself has failed. You will quite possibly need a new engine put in your Cavalier.

2002 chevy cavalier ran hot, cut off, now it cranks over but wont start. what's most likely cause?

head gasket or cracked head (:-() is most likely, but you could be lucky. Take a few plugs out to see if they have coolant on them. Also look for coolant in the oil and vice versa.

The gauge said it was hot, then it died at a stop light. And now it won't start? on a 2001 chevy cavalier

sounds like a blown head gasket, might want to check the oil and if it looks kind of frothy (may have to crank the engine a bit to make it more noticeable), that would be coolant and confirmation on a bad head gasket -- other signs (if you can recall seeing them) was before it stopped, did you notice a fair bit of white smoke from the exhaust?

Rough idle timing chain? 2004 chevy cavalier

Sounds like a 2.4 Quad four engine? If so the chain has either different colored links marked links that have to be aligned with the marks on the cam gear[s] and the crank gear.A chiltons book will show you how.

My 2000 Chevy Cavalier will start perfectly when the engine is cold. But if I go on an errand and let the car sit for 1/2 hour or so, it won't always start. I recently had a head gasket put in and had not...

i think it might also be a head, you could be leaking coolant which would make it hot and over work the alternator. i changed the head on my cavalier and my head gasket. after that, my problem was fixed

We changed the head gasket and put everything to gether now it doesn't want to idle right and stall on me in low idle

Vacuum leakage. Check throttle body mounting bolts, and intake manifold for proper seal. The new head gasket leaking could also cause this problem.

Where is the thermastat on 04 cavalier located?

You will find the thermostat where the upper rad hose comes to the engine. But this could be the least of your probs!!! The car has overheated several times! Right? Now you likely have a head gasket leaking! This means removing the head and have it machined! This could be very costly! Frankster016
