Transmission fluid level:
This type of vehical has a sealed transmssion and there's no way one can check the transmission fluid level. There are two plug at the bottom of the transmission the drain and the filter.

As you don't have an ATF dipstick, you will have two plugs facing downward on the larger trans pan.
The plug higher up on the pan is the fill/level check (stamped/recessed into the rear right corner of pan). ATF should just dribble from this plug on a hot, idling truck, in neutral on a level surface. The lower one is the drain.
The one at the back of the pan in a recess is the filler. You need a hand pump or something similar to fill it to overflowing then top it off with the engine running. Make sure you shift through the gears a couple of times when topping off.
Good luck and hope this helps

I believe you have a sealed trans. There is small window on the trans to check level. Not real useful though.

There is no dipstick on your auto trans. Checking it is a real PITA The trans pan has 2 plugs in it. The one on the very bottom is the drain. The one in the corner, up higher in a recess is the check/fill plug. To check, the engine must be warm and running, tranny in P. Remove the plug and fluid should dribble out. If it doesn't it's low, fill until it dribbles out, while engine is running. Obviously the truck must be on a lift or up on jackstands.

SOURCE: How to check transmission fluid

Easier done on a lift, but you need to start the vehicle and let it warm up and then remove the fill plug not yhr drain plug, (with the vehicle running) the plug will be found on the transmission pan but it is NOT the one on the very bottom of the pan, there is another plug up in the corner of the pan on the passenger side. Remove this plug carefully, for the fluid will be warm to hot, if a little runs out of the hole your ok, if nothing comes out with the plug completely removed you need to add a little at a time thru this hole until it runs back out. DO NOT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF WITH THIS PLUG OUT, fluid will run out if you do.

To get fluid in the hole, attach a small hose to a filler top off of a gear oil bottle and put that top on your tranny fluid bottle, turn it upside and squeeze the fluid in using the hose to get it into the pan. If you have a fluid pump it would be better but if not this will work.

SOURCE: how to fill transmission fluid 1999 isuzu rodeo ls

Lee2fixit doesn't know what he talks about on 99 Rodeos.

There is no dipstick tube - there are two access holes on the side of the transmission. The bottom one is to drain it out. The top one is to fill it back up. It is full when the fluid comes up to the bottom of the top hole.

Or you can take it to a dealer or service center to have it done.

How much transmission fluid do you need to fill a 2002 Izuzu Rodeo

in the absence of car manual, fill initially with one liter/qrt of transmission fluid. check for leaks and start engine. with transmission in park, slowly add transmission fluid with engine at idle. constantly monitor transmission fluid level with vehicle on level position until fluid level in "cold", then drive vehicle approximately for one mile until fluid is warmed up or hot. recheck fluid level with engine idling and on park. Add if necessary until fluid level in Hot position in dip stick. then your done. write down how much fluid you added for future reference.

How do i check and fill transmission fluid on a 2002 isuzu rodeo

I have just finished this task, based on not one, but many, "suggestions" via the internet. Reassuringly enough 95% are correct. Most important is the engine must be warm when attempting to complete this maintenance. If not you will more than likely anger your neighbors while spewing explicatives from underneath your Rodeo. Thank goodness I know my neighbors, they just laughed......

Were do u fill trans fluid 2002 isuzu rodeo

That vehicle has no dipstick. There are two plugs on the transmission pan. The lower one drains the fluid, the higher one is for the fluid level. When you open the upper plug and the drivetrain is warmed up, fluid should be level (close) to the bottom of the plug hole. Inotherwords, a small amount spilling out when you open the plug indicates that the transmission is full. This is also the hole that is used for adding fluid.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

How to change and add transmission fluid on my Isuzu rodeo 4 w , 2002

My friend had the exact same car and problem. I am not positive as this is just heresay from him, but he told me that he had to take it to a dealership garage, because there is a special tool they use to pump the fluid in. He said they told him that isuzu didnt want consumers doing maintenance only their garages, but you probably can find the truth by calling your nearest isuzu or import dealership. Good Luck!!

How doI add transmission fluid to my 2002 Rodeo

This has to be done from underneath the vehicle, and you have to pump it in. Not an easy task. This was Isuzu's bright idea. Don't get me wrong, I had a 00 Rodeo, and loved it. Had to do the same thing with the transmission. It is easier to take it to someone, but if you cannot, then go to the auto parts store, buy a pump, some transmission fluid, and put it in. I believe that the car has to be running, and the transmission has to be in neutral to add the fluid.

Where do i put transmission fluid in a 2002 Isuzu rodeo

As far as I have found the 02 Isuzu Rodeo does not have a transmission fluid dipstick you have to in fact go under your vehicle to check, change and fill your transmission fluid. Transmission fluid level: You will have two plugs facing downward on the larger trans pan.

Location of transmission dipstick on 2002 isuzu rodeo

Hello, Unfortuanetly the Rodeo does not have a dipstick and you must have a service technician check your transmission fluid by removing bolts on the tranny as if your were going to drain the transmission. I hope this helps you with your problem. A technician should not charge to much to do this for you either.
