I have an 03 Chev malibu. I just put a new battery in it. She won't start without a boost.runs fine afterwards.if I let her sit for a bit I will need a boost again..please help

New battery could be faulty or alternator not working.
If nothing happens when you turn the key,to check battery to determine its state of charge. Many starters won't do a thing unless there is at least 10 volts available from the battery. A low battery does not necessarily mean the battery is the problem, though. The battery may have been run down by prolonged cranking while trying to start the engine. Or, the battery's low state of charge may be the result of a charging system problem. Either way, the battery needs to be recharged and tested. If the battery is low, the next logical step might be to try starting the engine with another battery or a charger. If the engine cranks normally and roars to life, you can assume the problem was a dead battery, or a charging problem that allowed the battery to run down. If the battery accepts a charge and tests okay, checking the output of the charging system should help you identify any problems there.

Chrysler battery charge light on

check the charging system and battery to make sure these are working properly. if the charging system is not working then the alternator will have to be check and possibly the PCM as the PCM controls charging voltage and the alternator continuously tries to run a max. check for a code in the PCM related to charging. this may help finding the problem.

1997 kia sportage not starting but will start as soon as jumper cables are put on. I have a lot of corroison around battery post and clamp. They were cleaned a couple months ago and now is covered again

corrision is caused by battery gases .chances are the battery is no good because when engine is running the charging sences the battery is low on charge and is litterly boiling the battery fluid causing heavy corrosion you can test my theory by letting car run and smell around the battery.that should help with the why. also charging system could be sending full charge to battery at all times and might be the problem why battery is bad.replace battery and test charging system.new baery needs to be fully charged to make a correct test
if that helps let me know

Will not star or turn over.

CHECK BATTERY CABLES MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT CORRODED AND LOOSE.ALSO CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE.SHOULD BE 12.6 VOLTS IF NOT REPLACED BATTERY.BEFORE REMOVING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TURN OF RADIO FIRST.AFTER INSTALLING NEW BATTERY.WITH ENGINE RUNNING CHECK ALTERNATOR OUT PUT AT BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.DOING THIS WILL MAY SURE BATTERY GETTING GOOD CHARGE.2 REASON BATTERIES STOP WORKING.THEY FAIL FROM OLD AGE AND ALTERNATOR CHARGING SYSTEM NOT WORKING.IF BATTERY CABLES VERY OLD I WOULD REPLACE THEM.THAT WILL HELP BATTERY GET BETTER CHARGE.OLD BATTERY CABLES PUT A RESISTANCE ON CHARGING CIRCUIT CAUSE ALTERNATOR WORK HARDER TO KEEP BATTERY CHARGED WHICH WILL SHORTEN THE ALTERNATOR LIFE.

Dash says battery not charging

Alternator is what charges the battery. The alternator isn't putting out enough of amps to charge your battery and you will get a light or gauge reading that the voltage is low.
