SOURCE: replace motor on tailgate window on a 1987 ford bronco

You will likely have to remove the panel from the inside with the window up. Once you have the panel off I would try to have some one hold down on the switch while you tap the motor with a hammer. Of course make sure the latches are all the way closed as if the door is not closed all the way the window will not roll down as it has safety switches to keep this from happening.

If you still can not get it down then you will need to unbolt the regulator and let it down that way.

SOURCE: rear window of 92 Ford Bronco wont go up or down (power windows)

You need to either replace the motor or get a rebuild kit for the head unit. You remove the motor and take out 2 bolts in the head, use a flat blade screwdriver and hammer the pinched areas to get access to the inside gear. its a nylon gear and has 3 nylon runners inside. yours will prob be in pieces that are mixed with thick grease. best to clean all that out. the rebuild kit is pretty cheap or you can just cut a bolt into 3 similar sizes and drop them in the slots. (just remember the slip action the nylon is a safety feature in case you get your head or arm caught in the window as it closes) the metal pieces make it stronger and more dangerous. Put the head back together, pinch the metal tabs, put it all back on. Same solution will work on the door windows as well.

SOURCE: Have a 1992 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Tailgate window motor problem

I looked at my schematics, and they don't show a relay. They do, however, show two ground wires coming out of the tailgate window switch. There is a ground wire for the "up" side of the switch, and a ground wire for the "down"side. These would be color-coded black, and I think that it is worth checking to make sure you don't have a corroded /broken ground running from the tailgate switch. If only one grounding wire was broken, the window would operate in only one direction. Both dash and tailgate switches share the same wiring circuit, and these wires are "hot" all the time. It's normal when you get both sides of the motor leads at 12VDC when neither switch is activated. These switches function by switching off one of the two motor leads, and connecting it to ground, thus allowing power to flow thru the motor windings. Of course, reversing the polarity on a DC motor will change the direction of rotation, so changing which black lead is switched to ground gives the up or down direction to the motor.. since you can read schematics, you might check out ebay for a used Haynes manual cheap. hope this helps

1993 4.3L blazer. No tailgate latch mechanism and unable to open. Is there a way to open tailgate?

If you are saying the latch mechanism has been removed then use a coat hanger with a small "U" bent on one end. Insert the hanger into the tailgate (where the latch was) to one side and fish for the rod which normally connects to the latch mechanism. After you find one side retain it with a string or the like and find the rod on the other side. Once you have both pull them both toward the center of the tailgate and the tailgate will open.

Tailgate latch on my 2002 silverado is stuck in closed postion

Remove the molding ring from around the handle. Becareful not to break the taps that lock it in. After removing the molding you should see the handle mechanism. There is a rod coming in from each side (each one runs out the the actual latch). Make sure each rod is connected into the handle assembly. If it is not put the rod into the hole and find the retainer clip to keep it in place.

Tailgate is jammed.

Take the center latch out and pull each rod from the center of the tail gate inwards to open the gate....you may find the center latch is bent or broken and not pulling one of the rods on one side.

My tailgate won't open. It's jammed. I don't know how to get it to release so I can see what's wrong.

You will need a long flat blade screwdriver. From inside the bed of the truck look between the bedside and the tailgate and you can see the latch. take the screwdriver and gently ,but it will take some force, and pry the latch from the striker plate until it releases. If you push the tailgate open just a little on that side the latch will stay released. An extra hand comes in handy for this. Then do the same to the other side and you have an open tail gate. On the outside if you gently pry the lower part of the cover that surrounds the handle the bottom comes loose and then gently pull the top down and work it out of the opening. This is a little tricky but be patient and it will come out. If you break it it is about a 10 dollar part. There will be 2 rods in two plastic clips where your handle is. The clips lock over the rods. Flip the clip up and the rod will slide out of the clip. You most likely have a broken clip or a rusty handle. WD-40 works wonders.
