How do I disconnect 1993 Nissan Pathfinder theft alarm

The alarm goes off at random (parked in driveway - no one anywhere near it) - lights flashing/horn honking/running down the battery.

Sometimes happens two or three times in a row, then be fine for a month, then starts happening all over.

How can I disable this device? I've seen many complaints on this issue and lots of cautions about disabling the alarm will disable the vehicle.

You should be able to unplug the control unit under the drivers seat to disable the alarm.

1993 Nissan Pathfinder. Where is the tail light relay located please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

tail lights don't need relays as the amperage is very low. Only headlights and fog lights use relays.

I need to disable the factory installed alarm. It keeps going off randomly. Suggestions?

Unhook the battery, light the car on fire, blow it up, or you could find the wiring diagram and just unhook the fuse for the alarm system. Or just find out where the power input is. If you disconnect the power it might go off though because of backup power module but if you unhook the battery for like 30 seconds and then do it it shouldnt beep at you. Good luck!

How do you disarm the alarm when locking the doors ?

I assume you mean that the alarm goes off seemingly randomly and you aren't able to turn it off? If so, insert the key in the door and unlock. Turns the alarm off. My wife had to learn this the hard (and very embarrasing!) way.

My 1993 Toyota Tercel does not start when key is turned. New battery, all fuses checked and fine. When the doors get opened, hazard lights start blinking for 15 blinks, then pause, then 15 blinks. This...

This sounds like a starter disable feature of a car alarm. Somewhere under the dash you are going to find a box with the start wires running to it. The start wire is black with a white stripe and is thick, about a 12 gauge wire. It will come from the ignition switch and run into a relay or box. It could be installed anywhere as it is aftermarket. Once you find it, you can reconnect both ends of the starter wire and you can start it with the key. I would disconnect the power to the alarm or your lights are going to flash at random. The factory alarm (just in case it is the issue, but that isn't likely) is located behind the radio and ashtray.

Replaced battery and now the parking and dash lights blink a few times repeatedly and intermitently whenever I open and close the door. What is it trying to tell me?

you may have a factory alarm system that has enabled when power was lost. Try unlock and lock using the pwr lock switch...it may or may not work!!

Car alarm

try parking in the shade. if that doesnt change it then it is your tamper sensor, i understand that you think there is no movement, but that doesnt mean that electrically there arent slight variations in power. try to lower its sensitivity if the shade thing doesnt work out.

How to set factory alarm without remote, togle switch enabled

factory alarms are passive, if it is working it sets itself when u exit the car. u don't need the remote for the alarm to work if it has a factory system. if u want to test if it is working lock the car with the power lock button and leave the window down, reach inside the car and open the door from the inside handle, the alarm will sound if it is working, to disarm just lock and unlock driver door with the key..

Alarm system

if you are just annoyed with the noise, i could suggest that you just disconnect the speaker wire inside the engine compartment.

your alarm has an immobilizer and that would be a great help in case some one wants to steal your car.

but if you really want to remove your alarm, it would be just a matter of locating your alarm and disconnecting the fuse that powers it. it would normally be a red wire and there is a fuse in series with the wire.

you can trace your alarm by tracing back where the speaker wires came from. that box would be the alarm.
