The vehicle a 1999 GMC Sierra is fully loaed an everything works. Starts right up but will not charge. The battery is new and bounces back quickly. Alternator is new today. Thought that was the problem, but not. Is there an in line fuse or a fuse in one of the boxes that contriols the charge.
Check the fuses in the underhood fuse box?!

new alternators (probably a remanufactured unit) can be defective, or check the installation and make certain that all connections are installed properly and are tight. There is a large post on the back of the alternator, with the engine idling, check the voltage coming from that post-it should read at least 14 volts, anything less points to a defective alternator. Check the voltage at the battery terminals as well, it should be virtually identical to the output of the alternator, if not you have a bad connection at the battery or a defect in the wiring going from the alternator to the battery. Your ground cable from the battery to the car engine/frame should also be checked for a tight, clean connection.
