Was driving this morning and the axle slip out from the transmission I can put it back on with my hands but it will not seat not sure how it stays in there not seeing any clips but I think there was a sleeve that was on the old cv axle that I used to put on the new one. but im thinking it's gone from were it came out. but now I can put it in and out easy and nothing to hold it in place were it should be. anything would help
On the end of the splines in a groove of the shaft there should be a round "c" clip ( like a round piece of spring wire ) that is used to retain the shaft in the diff
it compresses into the groove when removing or installing
make sure that the shaft is the correct length for that side and get the clip from a drive shaft shop / service center
SOURCE: what is the procedure to
You don't need the special tools that they use in this procedure, you can use a hammer and a block of wood to get the axle out of the hub and you can use a pry bar to get the axle out of the transmisson.
Notice: Care must be exercised to prevent the constant-velocity joints from
being over-extended. When either end of the drive axle is disconnected, over-extension
of the joint could result in separation of internal components and possible
joint failure. Drive axle joints and seals should be protected any time service
is performed on or near the drive axles. Failure to observe this can result
in interior joint or seal damage and possible joint failure.
Notice: Prior to removal of drive axle assembly, cover all sharp edges in the
area of the drive axle with shop towels so that the seal is not damaged during
removal.
Removal Procedure
Installation Procedure
Notice: Prior to installation of drive axle assembly, cover all sharp edges
in the area of the drive axle with shop towels so that the seal is not damaged
during installation.
Any time the front halfshaft is removed, the transmission
(the halfshaft male and female shank) and the knuckle sealing surfaces should
be inspected for debris or corrosion.
If debris or corrosion are present on the sealing surfaces, clean them
with a 320 grit cloth or equivalent. Transmission fluid may be used to clean
off any of the remaining debris. The surface should be wiped dry, and
the halfshaft should be reinstalled free of any debris or corrosion buildup.
Important: Verify that the drive axle is seated by grasping on the inner joint
housing and pulling outboard.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the drive axle nut to 200 N·m (144 lb ft).

Isn't there a stabilizer bar attached to bottom or top of it? if so, and it's has a strut/link attached from end of it to the control arm, remove that & that might give you some room to move. It's just a long bolt with a sleeve & few bushings etc. Make sure you pay attention for re-assembly.
SOURCE: How to remove CV Axle from Manual Transmission on 2002 cavalier
the axle just pulls or snaps out of the trans, it is held in by an internal round spring clip, they are a real bear to remove the 1st time, u must pull straight out with a sharp jerking motion to get them to release, be patient it will come out.
SOURCE: the driver seat is broken..think I may need a new seat
Will need to find a good replacement seat at an auto salvage yard.

you have to pry it out carefully with a pry bar. go up between the trans and inner part of the axle. it has a clip on the inside that you cant get to. it will give and the axle will pop out. just be sure it pops back in when reassembling
