There could be a couple of reason why your brake lights are not working these are all common faults.
1.first remove the brake lens and check globes.
2.Next check the globe socket as they tend to get hot and the plastic housing brakes away so the globes don't connect.
3.get a test light and check for power.
4.if everything is ok then I would be replacing the brake light switch under the dash that makes contact with brake pedal.

head down to your local auto store and you will be able to pick up a wiring harness adaptor. you wire your stereo to this adaptor then you simply plug it into the wiring loom. no damage to the loom so if you ever need to reinstall the standard stereo its just an unplug and plug back in. its extremely simple and colour coded so there are no mistakes.

is it an auto or manual? if its auto the selector band may be too loose or gone completely, check fluid levels and make sure they are good as that can cause it to play up, a service may help free it of clogged and cluttered debree.

Hi, replacing a head gasket is not a DIY job, unless the person has plenty of experience, knowledge, and the proper tools. The fact that a person would even ask, "How to replace a head gasket", would indicate to some that they should not trying to do that repair.
To replace a head gasket you must remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, valve train, and then the head. This is very involved and requires disconnecting lots of sensors and the ignition system. The head must then be checked to see if it is warped, or cracked, and repaired if necessary. You must then know how to put all this back together and torque all the bolts in the proper sequence. This takes training and skill which the average shade tree mechanic does not have.
Pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual. Either one should give you detailed directions with illustrations.
